Compiled kernel modules bigger than supplied.

Hello, I cannot seem to find reports/documentation on this:

I have the official Nokia VM with Scratchbox set up for Maemo 5. Every time I compile a kernel (NITdroid, PowerKernel51r1, etc) and generate the modules the generated folder is over 100MBs. If I compare the size of the modules shipped with KP51r1 (in the modules .deb) individualy they are over ten times bigger (i.e. 64K vs 680K).

Why?! I cannot seem to figure out what I am doing wrong and I don't have 100MB free in rootfs for every kernel ;)

[Request] Swipe Pin to Unlock

Hi,

I have been searching the forum, but did not really find an existing thread on this.

Searching for Swipe Unlock etc. always leads to the standard unlock feature of the N9.

As I have set a pin to unlock my N9, I always have to enter it digit by digit to unlock the phone.
Is there an app, with which this can be done by entering the pin via swipe over the numbers? I have seen this on Android phones. Is there something available for the N9?

Help: I can't dual boot

I want to dual boot my N900 with... something. Not sure what, I want to test a few options. But I've been struggling with it and can't find my way out of the pickle.

I think I have uboot. Or do I? I am not sure. I boot with the slider open and get a white screen with a menu with two options: Boot Maemo and Power Off. Is that uboot? Probably not, because I opened the Uninstall section of the App Manager and couldn't find any uboot.

I followed the instructions for SHR, installed it on an 8GB SD card, put it in the N900 and... nothing happened. I booted with the slider open and got a white screen with a menu with two options: Boot Maemo and Power Off. No sign of SHR.

Then I followed the instructions to install Ubuntu. Boy, did that take long! 5 hours, I think! And after all that, no joy, because I can't make it boot.

So I tried to install uboot just to make sure I really had it. I found two versions: pr13 and Pali's U-boot with kernel 2.6.28-omap1. I can't install either. For pr13, an error message says it is incompatible with the Power User kernel. For Pali's, it says "!!!U-Boot with kernel 2.6.28-omap1 breaks the 3rd party package policy." Whatever that means.

Fine, I found the Power User kernel and uninstalled it. Then I rebooted.

Then I tried to install the two versions of uboot and still got the same error messages. But I uninstalled the Power User kernel! What's going on?

Then I kind of panicked a little, clicked and read a lot of things. I remember I saw somewhere that I was supposed to install 'Nokia kernel' or something like that in order to remove the Power User kernel properly. But where is that Nokia kernel? I can't find it.

I didn't use my N900 for almost a year so I forgot a lot of stuff and now I am very confused. Can someone please shed some light on this situation?

Hey guys.

I watched a video on YouTube about 2 months ago or so.

It was one of the most popular videos at the time.

Anyway, it went on to say something about how YouTube spoon feeds it's content but there was a trick to unlock that behavior.

It was some lengthy code you needed to copy and paste into a DOS prompt.

Anyone have any idea what I'm referring to?

Videos for me only buffer a few seconds and then stops which is becoming very annoying on my Windows XP home computer.

Description:
However, talking about the game, after seeing the game called "4 pics 1 word" on android, I asked myself: "Why not create for Nokia N9?".

So a week ago, I started to create this game for Meego Harmattan.
I have to say I'm already a good point, although there are still things to do.
I do not have much time to create this game, because I have to study for school ..

Parts already created:
- All keys (keyboard, back, play, aid);
- Coins and points;
- Aid which adds a random letter;
- Images (you can not see the images because I have not added yet, but I've already created the code);
- Selection of images and corresponding word randomly;
- Italian Language inserted;

Parties to Do:
- Audio of the application (very simple to do);
- Connect to Facebook to share the image and get help;
- Languages to be included (English, maybe French) (for these just add the words in English and French);
- Aid that eliminates the unnecessary letters (pretty simple to do);
- Zoom of the 4 pictures (very easy to do);
- Additional Information (very simple to do);

* The trial version don't have the "trash aid", sound.
* The trial version have only 6 levels to try.
* I have divided the trial version in Italian version and English version, for convenience only, because today, I have not had much time to do a trial version that contained both languages..

(the trash button is not a bug, I have not yet done) :)

I have all my apps in four folders on my N9 device.
What I want to do, is put them all on the bottom instead of the top. Kind of like disabling auto-align on Windows.
Is there any way at all to do that?

Heyho dear people,

I finally got a n900 too, my first smartphone I am very happy with it
:)

But it isn't new. So there are things on n900 from the previous owner.

So I want to clear it, because maybe he left for me some logger or something else unusually.

HOW can I format the n900. Is flashing the way to go?
DO I really need to flash n900 or do I have a other option?
