Re: Fuse and sshfs?
There is sshfs and it works. I use it.
In one of the maemo repositories there is the sshfs package.
If it's in the maemo-devel then be aware of the risks (not very well tested software, basically...

Re: My brief take on the N900
Even though the hack allows the N900 to connect successfully to the bt keyboard you can't actually use it. See: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=34872

Re: My brief take on the N900
Since I have discovered ssh_fs I never needed CIFS/NFS.
ssh_fs can be done on both sides of the comm and it's working on N900. It is a bit slower, it's true, but it's so much quicker to get it...

Re: Switching windows with keyboard
Yes, that is one things that are different in the Maemo 5 and IMHO it's not for the best:
- the UI can't be controlled with the keyboard. You can't do alt-tab, you can't minimize windows, you...

Re: [N900] Bluetooth keyboard: connection failed
I think the problem is in the xkb setup of the X11.
However I don't know enough to fix it :(
If you compare /usr/share/X11/xkb/ against N810 you'll find that it contains less. Especially the...

Re: My N900 is working well
I am very happy w/ the N900. Hardware wise is a jewel.
Software: it could do better, I'm pretty sure next firmware upgrade + the open source devels will make it nicer.
But at any rate, HW + SW,...

key bar for xterm
It looks like the only setting possible now in xterm is changing the font ?!
How about:
- adding more keys to the bar
- hide the bar (eg: when using a bluetooth keyboard)
Those were useful...

Re: NYC Nokia store is selling
This is funny: theoretically I agree with you it's probably limiting not to support this, but I, for one, don't miss/need this at all. I liked the other tables so much, that I always open the...

Re: Bluetooth keyboard: connection failed
See: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3042
It's a big disappointment for me too.
You would have thought that everything that worked on the previous generation tablets will still work on...

Re: Bluetooth keyboard: connection failed
No, I actually wasn't aware. Did not find that while searching.
My /etc/bluetooth/main.conf looked like this:
# List of plugins that should not be loaded on bluetoothd startup
#DisablePlugins...

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!
I called the Flagship store in NY City. Some very bored dude answered and he said they don't have the N900 yet and they expected "before the Holidays".
I bet if I call again and talk to somebody...

Re: N900 Specifications
That means swap file. It's SLOW, flash destroying and plain ugly. A real multitasking env will only make things worse w/ swapping.

Re: osso-xterm w/ overlayed transparent keyboard
It seems that you need qwerty12's script to hide the hildon virtual keyboard. I only have an 810 so I didn't use it, maybe an 800 owner can walk you through it.
On the other hand, why don't you...

Re: osso-xterm w/ overlayed transparent keyboard
With all due respect :) when I do stuff I do it mostly for me (selfish...)
And for me, the line commenting is visually telling me that code is commented out.
A '#if 0' 100 lines above isn't helping...

Re: osso-xterm w/ overlayed transparent keyboard
Excellent! I'm glad you're using my changes, I won't have too much time to maintain this.
Two things:
- I have also sound support in my changes but it was commented out. The current executable on...

First of all I want to apologize for the delay in releasing the sources. Outside of my control an almost year long interruption happened and by now probably nobody needs this anymore. Sorry.
But...

Re: osso-xterm w/ overlayed transparent keyboard
Since I have a N810 now I don't really have the motivation to work on the transparent keyboard xterm.
Before I got it though I was working on a really transparent version (using cairo), which...

osso-xterm w/ overlayed transparent keyboard
Hi,
One thing that I didn't like about the tablet is that I couldn't properly use the terminal while thumb typing. That's because the thumb keyboard hides the terminal entirely.
How can one use...
