I guess the best thing to do is wait for details of the repair to come through. It is hard not to blame the car charger for the problem, both times it has been from starting the car with phone...

nokia failed on the consumer market because the device doesn't act like a user friendly device and didn't gain enough good reviews on the web, for it's original price it's hard to beat apple and high...

Meego has reference apps to place phone calls, sms, and so on and IIRC there is a project to debianize meego apps.

Another way may be try porting neoPhysis apps, and emh..., that should be easy as...

No, if keyboard slide is open, u-boot shows "3 2 1 0" countdown and if you press a key, you'll enter 'shell mode' (in u-boot). if you skip shell (with slide open), n900 will boot Meego (or whatever...

If you switch the OS with multiboot you'll reflash the kernel and lose u-boot. There are other issue too such continuous reflashing and support only for Linux OS and kernels able to mount the nand...

Yes! but I think that both kernels see them in the same manner, cannot confirm and check now, please verify with cat /proc/partitions under freemantle.

A quick search around TMO suggested that hdparm can only be had on the N900 by installing Easy Debian. So this script is a simpler means until someone ports hdparm to the N900.

If you are already root via a previous "sudo gainroot" command (ie you have a "#" prompt versus a "$" prompt"), you don't need to prepend your commands with another sudo. Just type the command as-is.

I've been running at 1.1ghz for months and it hasn't died yet, I suspect 80% of owners on here are running highly overclocked. I'm yet to hear of one dying due to the cpu frying

I got the touch screen working on ubuntu 10.10
this is how i did it :
chroot into the ubuntu install from maemo
removed xserver-xorg-core
disable all repositories in /etc/apt/sources.list
added...
