[Announce] Faster kinetic scrolling in app menu (PR1.2)

Many (including me) were particularly annoyed with the introduction of the PR1.2 menu, which had slower (much slower) kinetic scrolling.

Here's a modified hildon-desktop package which has this...

Re: Introducing the licensing change requests queue

Hey, my current role in the as Pre-Integrator in the Maemo Application Framework team puts me in a position to see both sides of the coin.
I have integrated and worked with the open and closed...

Re: Introducing the licensing change requests queue

See, this is the place where the community (and the thread itself) goes its way and you go your own.

We are not addressing openness here, this is not the issue we have raised. Besides, what else...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

Err. I don't think you understand (which you might want to re-evaluate on the whole "I act on reality not dreams ok" point. Nokia (as in the higher ups that make the decision about device life...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

Before answering, I want to say that council are volunteers and spend a lot of time. Even if we disagree with what they have done or not done, they should be appreciated and thanked for their...

Everyone, stick to debating issues and do not descend into name calling and personal attacks. Thank you.

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

Unfortunately this thread is already starting to become a "let's-everybody-put-out-what-we-thing-is-wrong-with-nokia-again", with the usual points being thrown again (not really open source, crap...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

I did. For some time I used just a standard cell phone with the N810 (which, obviously, isn't helping here since we're still supporting Nokia).. but once I got the G1 the N810 just wasn't as useful...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

I'm kinda tiring (bored?) of this topic. :) Why can't we all just get along?

I still think my way is the best way: Stop buying the Nokia stuff until they deliver something we ACTUALLY want? ...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

100% agreed Texrat. The council's focus on developer issues is a logical and important place to start and build from the bottom up. However, shouldn't Nokia be equally concerned with the opinions...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

Thank you debernadis... after the prior comments, this is something that needs to be commented upon.

The council needs to be defined in a way that clarifies what it does/doesn't do. To me, and...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

Wow!

Ok, here's what I see:

The council is extremely useful in doing what it does. And what it does is largely what it has always done. What has changed is the nature of the community from...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

> Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

Yes, a lot.

And I will also miss a community council in the MeeGo project if none is formed, based on the different setup of that project and...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

Frustration aside...

Here's an honest question... if our (the community's) voices were more uniform in what our grievances, concerns and requests were, would that assist the council in regards to...

Re: Introducing the licensing change requests queue

This is a thread about licensing change requests for Maemo 5 components. I think jjx put it best, so it doesn't make sense for me to repeat his points. Texrat also made reasonable points.

The...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

Well said!

Every owner of N900 is not automagically the member of Maemo Community.

IMO even not every TMO and/or maemo.org account holder is automagically a Maemo Community member. I...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

Well, not to be too rude, the "who knows?" question is easy to answer: "those who know more than you".

Please read my post above, including the bit about expectation management. None of the things...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

I think Texrat has been slightly overstating our lack of results as part of his defence (quite rightly) about whether we've been doing anything and/or are incompetent (rather than impotent).

I've...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

So if I understand correctly this should answer the original topic:

The council is useless in terms of bringing messages and complaints to Nokia because Nokia don't care, but on the other hand are...

Re: Would you miss the Council if it was gone?

Interesting points have been raised in this thread, but I have to remind you all of two things:

YOU, maemo.org members elect the Council. Nobody gets a seat without stating intent and being voted...

Some of the initial posts in this thread make me wonder how the same people would reply if asked the questions:

Would you miss the Webmaster, if...

Thank you for your input, and I won't go into the quibbles.

Did anyone complain when previous councils worked to get...

Re: BYE BYE N900 - Sad day Nokia!

Okay you two let's all calm down and work this out ... this is all about consensus building. We need to reach a point of agreeing as to what to do as a community, because if the council is not in...

Re: Maemo Advocacy

There's been quite the flareup here lately, and it's not surprising. I expected a transition from Maemo to MeeGo to be rough.

The only part I want to address is the Civil War.

But first I...
