Re: N900 battery drain

zzztop lies, for reasons unknown at the moment (bug? Wrong implementation?), no doubt about that.

Re: N900 battery drain

It took me about 10 minutes to fix my magnet problem. With scissors and a flexible magnetic sheet from the back of a fridge magnet :) Works for the SD card sensor but sadly not for the keyboard open...

Re: N900 battery drain

Definitely not related.

No problem, I'm glad it helped! They're unavailable where I live too - had to import them from half a world away. But, to be honest, they're not available where anyone...

Re: N900 battery drain

Your current draw problems are not related to faulty battery, thats for sure. Anyway, better battery always mean longer runtime, so if you want to buy new one, I recommend polarcell BL-5J. they're...

Re: N900 battery drain

Sadly, I lack expertise on that bluetooth integration thing :(

And now for something completely different (and not Spanish Inquisition, too) i I would like to finally determine if your's device...

Re: N900 battery drain

By 3G on you mean 3G data connection active all the time? If yes, your battery life is pretty normal, 3G data is power sucker, even if you don't transmit much. If you need to be online, but doesn't...

Re: N900 battery drain

Hmm, that other thread (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=50259) is rather inconclusive as to whether it was really the overclocking that had caused it. I would consider it unlikely albeit not...

Re: N900 battery drain

The N900 it pretty un-brickable, a reflash will always put you straight if it's not a hardware issue.

When using powertop or zzztop it's best to take three samples and compare them to each other....

Re: N900 battery drain

Well done!

Those 10 hours are of constant use or idle? My phone can last for up to 2 days if I don't touch it, but that rarely happens. Normally I take it off the charger about 6:30 in the morning...

Sure: top --help ;)
or:
top -b -n 5 -d 2
will call top five times with a delay of 2 seconds. You may do whatever you want with the output ...

Re: N900 battery drain

Okay, sorry.

But with that huge amount of CPU load you should see the process with top/htop, or?

Re: N900 battery drain

Alternatively, if you are sure that BT is permanently broken, you can just as well uninstall everything remotely related to it and then reboot the device. I cannot give you a list but I would start...

Re: N900 battery drain

Same feeling here. You powertop output looks ok - no overly suspicious wakeups, etc. Yet, device doesn't want to sleep. At the same time, that bluetooth failing thing is perfectly capable of...

Re: N900 battery drain

zzztop is a perl FOSS version of powertop.
It is missing "power domain activity breakup" however, it is FOSS, optified, in Extras and doesn't have the 1150Mhz bug with KP that powertop has.

I...

Re: N900 battery drain

I have two anecdotal stories to support Estel:

Story 1
I had (have but no longer use) a no-name, el-cheapo Android tablet made in China. Despite having no phone functionality, it had the Phone...

Re: N900 battery drain

For some reason device doesn't seem to standby properly, almost at all - it is awake >98% of time, which explains the battery drain. Hoever, looking at the wakeups, I don't see anything odd (Am I...

Re: N900 battery drain

codelad, zzztop lacks some functions of powertop. Please activate extras-devel, and search for powertop again (then, after installing, you might want to disable extras-devel again).

If you were...

Re: N900 battery drain

Powertop does not reveal anything. It could/should (clean reflashed state) be a bit more time in C4 state, but mine is about the same.

So please do in terminal:
dmesg
and check for BT and/or FM...

Re: N900 battery drain
