Re: Discussing JollaOy strategy

Fine, but offering that one thought for 24 pages? I'm sure it's more than enough for Jolla to pick it up, if they're interested.

Re: Discussing JollaOy strategy

Since this is such a major issue to you, a free tip: if you can't live with the "level of openness in communication" Jolla provides, the easiest way out is to take your money to some company that...

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!

Problem is, you need the robot to do the *correct* things, but except for trivial things, only you can know what they are.

Re: Does any current mobile OS support close and minimize functions?

Irony is, when they make it possible for clueless to accomplish what they want, they also make it impossible for the competent to accomplish what they want.

Re: Nokia Q4 results are out. Lost $ 1.4 Billion. Now what Nokia will do ???

The point was, that in my understanding "Linux kernel" alone won't do much if you want to create a Linux based smart phone OS. You will need GNU libs and a load of other surrounding software. So you...

Re: N9 [Shipping]: It's finally here [for some]!

I guess so, but still find it disappointig as a "hands-on review".
Basically they found out that: feels good in hand, we don't like the lock screen, starts to crash with five apps open (?!). The...

Re: N9 [Shipping]: It's finally here [for some]!

Bah! They bothered to write a review just to whine about how dead meego is. Very useful.

Re: Nokia E7 vs N900 - Hands-on

The connection management shortcut is integrated to homescreens. Shouldn't be too hard.

Re: Ari jaaksi: “Symbian was a religion inside Nokia”

No offence, but you now sound like the guy who has been gravely enchanted by well made marketing materials.
I'd like to hear what relevance does the 13kb kernel have in this context? The final OS...

Well, I hope the company politicians and religious leaders are happy with the outcome.

Re: N9: It's finally here

Maybe I didn't understand. By reading your words, I got the impression that Maemo "failed" because developers were no good? In my view the failure was not having enough developers, and not inserting...

Re: N9: It's finally here

You estimate the SW development effort Nokia put behind Maemo was comparable to what they invested in Symbian during the years?
Personally, I think the resources they sank in Maemo was a drop in the...

Re: N9: It's finally here

I don't think that makes any sense. Nokia never left symbian for Maemo. They almost left it for MeeGo, but even that attempt was terminated before it got to full speed.
The only thing Nokia has ever...

Re: Nokia E7 vs N900 - Hands-on

I agree with most of what was said in this review. The one thing i see very differently is the default browser - N900 is a winner without contest, imo. (Opera is excellent on E7 though).

Oh, and...

Nokia has stated that Meego is no go - people here who hate it get what they want.
Nokia has announced that N9 will be released - people here who love it get what they want.

Just hypothetically,...

Re: N9: It's finally here

* I like the N900, but its sometimes a bit massive to drag along just as a phone; N900 is a bit *too much a tablet* for my uses -- N9 doesn't have this issue
* It's a Nokia. If I get this I don't...

Re: N9: It's finally here

I just hope this has a better GPS and works better as a phone than N900 does. Might get one if that is the case.

Re: Latest big name departure from Nokia: Rich Green, CTO

Well, I think they did good job developing Symbian. Thing is, symbian was not designed for the purpose mobile phones today are used for - it would be easier to make an os from scratch than stretch...

Re: N900 could be the most popular mobile phone by the users!

IMO, Nokia should work hard to open source every bit of Maemo they possibly can. That way they'd quit Maemo with style, and make the N900 truly an exceptional device on the market - a thing to be...
