auto-hildonizing GTK for Mer?

I've seen some threads talking about how Qt for Maemo automatically does all the hildonizing for apps. This eases porting of Qt apps to Maemo because there are fewer things for the app developer to...

Re: The initial focus of Mer

Understood... I reported the bugs I found on the wiki. And it seemed that the 0.16testing3 worked better for me than 0.15 so I'm sticking with that.

Re: The initial focus of Mer

I agree with tomaszd that getting to the point where some developers and early adopters can use Mer day-to-day would be a huge step. I don't think hardware support is the only way to achieve that. ...

Re: wanted: good programmer's xkb configuration for n810

I'm attaching my current xkb file in case others find it useful. It has the following changes to the stock n810 keyboard mapping:

wxPython available?

I saw some old messages about somebody porting wxWidgets to maemo. I was wondering if that ever got completed, and in particular if wxPython ever got ported. I just discovered Task Coach...

[Debian] left-handed scrollbars

Easy Debian is great!

To get left-handed scrollbars in gedit (and probably most gtk apps) I created the file /home/user/.gtkrc-2.0 and added the line:

gtk-scrolled-window-placement = top-right

Re: [Announce] Gene Cash's to_do and calend PIM programs for OS 2008

Appreciate the thanks and glad Gene's apps are helpful for you.

I think it's a good suggestion to make his apps and the ports easier to find, update, and track bugs and issues. Some others had...

Re: Podcasting: New gPodder version

I ran 'gpodder --verbose' from my n810 xterm and it did not crash when I slid the keyboard in and out. I then reran it the normal way from my launcher and it once again crashed when sliding out the...

Re: Podcasting: New gPodder version

I just started using gpodder and it's a very nice app. I think the benefit of getting it into the extras repo is that then it's easier for beginners to find. It gets that much more exposure.

I'm...

Re: Car ECU + voltmeter + USB + N810

That voltmeter board looks maybe not as good as the arduino, which is cheap, open, and should be much easier to get going under Linux. Search "arduino" on the forum and you should find others that...

New to_do build available.

I just released a build of to_do that corrects the category rename bug GeraldKo reported and I just confirmed. This bug could cause data loss of to_do items. All to_do...

Re: [Announce] Gene Cash's to_do and calend PIM programs for OS 2008

I just posted a new calend build that should fix the bug with weekly repeats not working when running with a non-English locale setting.

Re: Will someone code an Always-on-Top Macro-Typing Applet like TypeItIn?

I have thought something like this would be helpful too. On the PalmOS there were a few extra little graffiti symbols you could write that were macros for things like the current date, or date and...

[Announce] Gene Cash's to_do and calend PIM programs for OS 2008

I've done an initial port of Gene Cash's python PIM programs to OS 2008. These packages should be backwards compatible with OS 2007 also. Download the .debs in order and the dependencies should be...

Re: Calendar app for N810 that can make an alarm sound

GPE calendar doesn't use the maemo alarmd framework, which is supposed to "do the right thing". There is an open bug against alarmd, but at least standardizing on alarmd seems like a way forward. ...
