A bug in the wpa2 protocol was found: https://www.krackattacks.com/
It looks like for other Linux (and android), wpa_supplicant can be changed to fix this bug, but it looks like something else does...

Re: [Announce] Pierogi - a universal infrared remote control app

I thought I did see the Nikon DSLR remote control already in Pierogi...at least I've used it before to trigger my D5100...

Re: [Announce] Pierogi - a universal infrared remote control app

I've been using Pierogi ever since I got my N900 about 4 years ago. It's great to have a whole bunch of remotes in my pocket. I was using my HP48G to be my remote control before the N900, alas, I...

Re: Holy cow, we have been dirty for 9 years

Well, it looks like kernel 3.10 and later are the "easy to exploit" so it sounds like we might be semi-safe on Maemo. Still worrysome.

I have yet to try this on my android phone, then again I...

Re: Holy cow, we have been dirty for 9 years

Apparently the "fix" was identified, any ideas when this will be backported to KP?

Not sure about 2.6.28, but backported to my 4.0.5 server, there had been changes so the patch in the commit...

Re: Nokia N900 A-GPS Not Working Anymore

I was trying the supl proxy on my server and pointing my N900 to it. However results were inconclusive, I wasn't sure if my N900 was even happy with my supl server's certificates, making it tough to...

Re: Battery Tests, Homemade 3000mAh XL Battery & Q&A (POST #1) - New Layout

From my tests with my N900 I've seen it chew up 700mA for short durations but fairly easy to make it draw ~500mA for relatively long stretches. I would guess that a good, standard 1.3AH BL5J battery...

Has someone packaged the proxy software at http://www.tajuma.com/supl/ somewhere?

For those of you who are posting success, please indicate country and your carrier (or ISP if you're using wifi). Reports seem to contradict with each other including my success with...

Re: Defrag of Mydocs?

There is some benefit for defragging flash - If you keep all your empty space and constantly changing space defragmented, the number of erases and erase block rewrites would be decreased. This would...

Re: Nokia N900 GPS Not Working Anymore

Woah. I think I may have AGPS working again, at least it *looks* like it.

Note: This is for T-Mobile USA customers only. I suspect a lot of US users use their N900s on T-Mobile USA anyway...

Re: Battery Tests, Homemade 3000mAh XL Battery & Q&A (POST #1) - New Layout

Has anyone measured how much a cell degrades over time, even if they're not being used? There are some studies on batteryuniversity / cadex about this but I wonder if anyone has done so on their...

Re: N900 screen protectors

This is true, the adhesive stick side, how much do they differ from vendor to vendor, indeed if it does come off the screen and tends to want to stick to the screen, that's bad. I guess I've been...

Re: N900 screen protectors

Yeah, the screen itself is really tough but not unscratchable, so I rather the *cheap* screen protectors get scratched. I had my n900 for a few months now and scratched the first screen protector -...

Re: Cheap (chinese) external BL-5J (and other models) battery charger: reverse engineering

Good Nickel Cadmium cells do cool down slightly when charging actually, then warm up when they are full. Because of this, some chargers detect the temperature change to tell when the cells are full....

N900 screen protectors

Anyone have a good recommendation for getting cheap screen protector sheets for the N900?

I figure none of them are going to last as long as the first one (or if they can be applied as well as the...

Re: How to keep display off on charging event?

Oops. yes you're right, the display does turn on and stay on for a minute (which is my timeout). II gave up on solar charging until I got a beefier solar cell.

The problem with the 1W supply is...

Re: How to keep display off on charging event?

I tried solar charging with a 12V 1.5W (that has degraded to less than 1W) panel with DC-DC converter to 5V/USB. This setup is really weak, it won't charge if the N900 is being used at all,...

Re: X Terminal- Maemo Nokia N900

Also getting rid of the "noexec," you should change the fmask to 0000 so all files with have the +x bit set.

Just don't accidentally run a text file as they too will be +x.
