There is no workaround to do this. It is just impossible with a designed implementation. Well, in theory someone can write their own small daemon(.a.k.a. service) that will do all work and notify you...

I haven't found any way to do add a limitation for number of messages. In theory, it should be possible by changing a QMF source code, but I'm not sure that you'll be able to install updated QMF...

Honestly, I simply do not remember is there any way to make your N9 visible as non-MeeGo device. As for the sync more then 2 weeks emails. Check MeMailSettings app (small self advertisement :-D).

New version is available on a github (with a useful tweak for your Hotmail exchange account). I hope that soon this update will be available in the Ovi Store.
