When my N800 is done charging, and I'm about to unplug it, the screen is dark. When I unplug it, it lights up the screen and displays the message that I should unplug the charger from the wall...

sounds like they're running a proxy server that you need to log in with...

is it via a web page? you can probably run a script, based on the SSID, and have it log you in automatically... check...

I think only one of those /dev/mmc* entries exist on the N810, as it has only one card slot... There are two ("internal" and "external" on the N800).
