Re: One month without n9

I've been watching the mobile space since 2004-2005... and after using the N9 for more than a year and a half, I honestly feel that there's no suitable replacement for me on the market today.
Glad...

Re: Show your best photos taken with N9

The 5110 is my first phone. (well, my mom's, but I still enjoyed it very much :D) I got like 368 on Snake, and the memory game was an instant hit.

Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?

Empirically, after 2 to 3 weeks it begins to fill the swap instead of RAM. But I guess it's a noticeable improvement over N900 from what has been said around.
/sbin/swapoff and swapon...

Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?

I got an SGX error today that made the phone pretty unusable until I fired good old SSH up applied the kill -9 treatment. Volume was still working and apps were launching fine, only the home screens...

Re: [Announce] Easy Debian for MeeGo Harmattan : now with VKB on PR1.3 !

I'm not pretending to be a doctor - I'm just a Med student right now - but still anything remotely related to this disease, Epipathy, has failed to cross my ears yet. Must be a newly-discovered...

Re: [Announce] Harmattan repository for packages that need inception

apt-cache search <term>

It also searches in the package description.

apt-cache pkgnames

to list every package available in the repos -> very long output, suggest also using grep.

Re: Nokia's Backup Plan

The Maemo team has been fired months ago. There's no one left to work on another Linux system...unless one day they prove me wrong maybe?

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!

As much as I hate to say it, it's impossible to deny the continued expansion of the mobile space at the expense of the desktop segment (like danramos clearly pointed out).
Sadly, by this time it's...

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!

Lumiaman, why are you spamming this forum, seriously? Do you really think anybody's buying your nonsense, especially that we (Harmattan fans), unlike you, have serious matters to attend to, both here...

Re: N900 vs Galaxy S2 (Super Biased Review)

Yep. With the arrival of banana and green bug (green-eyed monster? :D) now almost everybody brags about their 'smartphone'. I'd like to repeat this comparison and show people once and for all that,...

Re: N900 vs Galaxy S2 (Super Biased Review)

Unfortunately, most people who buy a smartphone today don't really care about actually doing something useful on it. Today, it is games and visuals that weigh more in the decision process, not...

Re: Nokia on the brink of failure

Is there a problem with that, good sir? I thought it (among others) was a reason why this forum exists.

Re: N9 battery consumption after PR1.2 (is there a way to make it better?)

The sensor only turns the screen off if it detects an object not farther than 5 cm. I did find that turning the low-power screen off saves on battery... 1 or 2 mAh or so. :P You could use...

And thus went 7 (or more?) years of mobile research down the drain. So, I guess Maemo really was ahead of its time. But yeah, it's clear that it was never even given a...

Re: Battery life with PR1.2!

Here's my mileage.

It seems the N9 is even more magical than the iPhone. It can recharge itself from 60 to 72 mAh, thus violating the second law of thermodynamics. :D (correct me if I'm wrong!)

Wink Re: gcc compiler on N9?

Because, apparently, in the new Nokia management's view, you shouldn't be able to do more things on this OS than in Windows Phone. Otherwise... I shall stop here. :)
