Yeah, I used to work at Motorla Paging Products back when pagers were hot... a lot of my coworkers got pages from numbers in the islands - not sure if Haiti was one of 'em, but we were all warned...

Bluetooth is an alternative. I've only used the headphone jack in mine less than a dozen times.
I've used both regular hands-free units and stereo headphones with it and they work great.

In addition to CSSU, which is fantastic by itself, I recommend also installing CSSU-thumb. The difference is nothing short of staggering in the responsiveness of the UI due to a much smaller memory...

Tune your radio to a dead spot where you hear static, then tune your N900 to the same frequency.
