If you can, grab an AMD Fusion Brazos E450 chipset.
A great example is Asus EEE 1215B. 7 hours of battery (tested it by myself). Will even play...

It's all about the complexity of the OS. It's, of course, much less stable than iOS or Android, but do remember that these OS'es are designed entirely (from the kernel to the GUI) for mobile...

I have an 8gb Class 6 Transcend card and it works pretty well... But I cant lie to you, I didn't stress it or test it a lot.
I have Nitdroid/Easy Debian in MicroSD
Easy Debian is smooth as f*ck...
