Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

Thank you to those who have continued to support our phones. Mine is 8 years old and I still use it everyday. The updated OS and libs installed smoothly.

Re: N950 with MeeGo this year, but who trusts Nokia anymore?

Odd as this may sound to you, this is exactly why you should support open over closed. Forget commercial apps, they are a dead end in the long run. Companies exist to make money and to do so they...

Re: N950 with MeeGo this year, but who trusts Nokia anymore?

I'll buy it if it motivates me like the N900 did, which has nearly met all the expectations I placed on it. Certainly I would have preferred all of components to be able to be controlled by open...

Re: For Devs thinking of porting to WP7

Well, according to this site (http://www.techhackz.com/2011/02/how-to-remove-unsigned-apps-limit-on.html), you must first jail break the phone to be able to run ten unsigned apps, then change the...

Re: For Devs thinking of porting to WP7

Perhaps I am mistaken, but I thought WP7 restricted software installation to Microsoft approved apps unless jail broken much the same as Apple's devices.

Again I could be wrong, but I was...

For Devs thinking of porting to WP7

This Slashdot article (http://news.slashdot.org/story/11/02/17/1429229/Microsoft-Bans-Open-Source-From-the-Windows-Market) points out that Microsoft forbids GPL and LGPL software from being...

Re: Nokia CEO Elop lays groundwork for new strategy to be announced next month, a move away from meego? Hello WP7!!

Nokia announced they are surrendering. Investors lose confidence when a company does that.

Re: I woke up today and my N900 still works!

Thanks for the link. Here's hoping success to that project and any others that are willing to give those wanting not to succumb to the powers of Google and Microsoft options.

Nokia to build ad serving machines?

At least that's how Microsoft exec Kostas Mallios describes the OS (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/06/27/windows_phone_7_ads/),

Way to jump the shark there Elop. I know I certainly won't be...

Re: Droid Bionic what you guys think about it ?

http://developer.motorola.com/products/droid-bionic/

Other than having no keyboard and being CDMA only it seems to be a nice phone. It really depends on whether it meets all your needs or not.

Re: A little confuised on the N900/Maemo haters... please explain.

I have no hate for the N900, just bought a second one as a matter of fact and starting to use my old one to experiment with things I was hesitant to play with on a device I depend on for daily use.

Re: Linux fight over meego??

Why? What difference does it make to you if those who prefer to use the command line have that option? Pointy clicky interfaces to rpm generally rely on low level text based commands the same as...

Considering the ramifications of this statement and the fact that many, many, people use their devices to perform financially sensitive transactions I would submit that any applications submitted by...

You don't find asking for payment from volunteer "testers" a problem then?

Re: SIO2 Interactive spamming votes to get his/her applications to Extras

You do bring up some interesting points, even if it they are only two coppers worth B-)

Seriously though, I'm not trying to hang the SiO2 developer before he is proven guilty. I really do think he...

Re: This is just not ambitious enough

Add to that the ability to port or even write just about any program you could the N900 allows users to be as ambitious as they want.

Re: Application Manager Operation Failed

I just experienced the same issue. Removing "non-free" will keep the catalog enabled. I'm not sure yet though what apps are considered "non-free" in testing so don't know what all that makes...
