I'm using mine with the French Operator « Free Mobile » without any troubles, even with no LTE20 (800Mhz) support...
And It is possible to unlock the bootloader.

Sometime the problem can come from merged contacts ...
Can you check if you can un-merge, made modifications and after re-merge the contacts.
