Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

woody, I'll just pitch in with what I know of historical facts and not really to join whatever fight is here. Some of this is more along lines of what was experienced and not really documented, but...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

That's just plain wrong - please stop spreading misinformation.

They've had BME working since forever in the 1.2 images - wall charger and USB charging. Even with a battery meter in UI and...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

I'll make a note that you don't want to come have a calm discussion about your views - that's okay, but isn't views useless unless uttered? Maybe people are listening here, too. Stskeeps has said he...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

I know, but proper development is about discussion and well, abill_uk is more than welcome to contribute with his discussion in the place things go on in, together with 211 other users.

Some...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

Well, you have chased away every single MeeGo developer from this place by now, so if you want any questions answered, this is the way. Participation and proper discussion - it's all public, logged....

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

If you want to talk live to the Nokia N900 hardware adaptation team, feel free to come for a talk at the #meego-arm IRC channel and I'm sure they'll help clear up any questions

Simple steps:

Go...

Re: MeeGo dying before it ever really had a chance to live?

Stskeeps's been quite vocal about the article on IRC, stating it's blown out of proportions and based on rumours so I doubt he accepts the story.

Premise of article is:
* We heard industry...

Re: Ask the Council!

My reference was to that 1) there was a N900 developer programme from sometime before actual launch called Fremantle Stars and 2) the hand-out of loaner N900s in Amsterdam at MeeGo summit before...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

Just a quick note on this one - the best thing you can do is either join meego-handset@ mailing list to receive notifications of new meeting logs/minutes or view it on...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

I agree with the adventurous part, even though that label is sometimes applied to everyone who touches a flasher at some point.

I'd like to know - what's your criteria (or anyone's) for daily use...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

Just to make it clear what I'm talking about, MeeGo platform does not rely on any closed source components, the hardware adaptation specific to N900 does. I'm not trying to convince you either way,...

I would answer with anyone, just people aren't asking that many questions these days. Would rather spend time on someone else's questions :)

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

My (personal) opinion is that it's a waste of time to do any big effort as everyone will be heading towards some time where they'd have to redistribute full images/firmwares or will hit a wall...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

OK, since I presented the layering (Core, hardware adaptation, UI) to you in a earlier post, I'll just tell the exact story of how things have been working so you can put that in perspective. I won't...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

That's an insult to all the people working on MeeGo ARM and Nokia N900 hardware adaptation. Please educate yourself and go look at what work actually has been done instead of this crap.

Re: Meego 1.2 CE - chroot: Is it possible? Edit: Yes! It is!

You're going to run into immense trouble as the GLESv2 drivers in the chroot does not work with the kernel we have on Maemo5. And you can't copy in the Maemo5 ones as MeeGo is hardfp.

Re: The End is Coming: What do we do next?

I'm not sure what your definition of optimized variety is, but fair enough - I guess you might refer to non-optimized variety as noveau which is an open source driver for nVidia on PC? This is the...

Re: The End is Coming: What do we do next?

Re: The End is Coming: What do we do next?

While not Debian, there was a lot of pushback proposing this when Mer was supposed to be used as Ubuntu Mobile.. the GTK thing screwed up so many things making it unacceptable for inclusion

Re: Is it possible to emulate hardfp?

When you call a procedure, in hardfp you put floating point values in floating point registers. In softfp you put them in integer registers for ancient compatibility reasons.

Hardfp is faster due...
