I strongly doubt that it would be possible over IP (FoIP? Fax over IP?) since VoIP calls are compressed.
AFAIK, GSM communications are lossy too, so not suitable for faxing.

i'm pretty sure it can be done from the command line with the dbus interface. you can setup a script to sleep for a certain time and then send an sms, or set up a crontab, or whatever.

I have installed aisleriot for os2008 (http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/aisleriot/) on the N900 and i'm using it with no problems.
If something, you need to download the deb and install it...
