While the OS is open (modifying/forking), the hardware certainly isn't and as such isn't subject to the whims of the community. Nokia will guage their decisions on measurements of the larger market,...

Well I upgraded and it stuck at the boot screen, I flashed the rotation kernel on to it and it booted fine and said "software updated OK".
There's a mention of this on this thread before.

Dustin has created a simple app (https://garage.maemo.org/projects/autolock/) to autolock the N810 touchscreen & keys whenever the ambient light sensor is covered.
