what you are seeing in the media player is the UPNP server that orb runs, this will only be on your local network. And can be used for other things like the PS3 as well. I find the upnp works...

how are old apps not working in a new os nokia's fualt, even with ubuntu you have to recompile apps between certian kernal revisions, you just want it all done early. I think the whole problem is...

If you are getting a sound then your are booting into the OS, are you getting the progress bar across the bottom?
To flash it you need the wizard here...

Have you tried installing the 'agps-ui' app, you can give it an approx location and it should lock faster after you have set that, I think. I have not tried the GPS since my upgrade.

The default chat client supports jabber.
Go to the control panel >> Accounts >> New >> Next >> pick Jabber from the drop down.

Did you run "apt-get distro-upgrade" ever?
That has been the cause of my only reboot loops.
Had to reflash then.
