Re: Alternatives to Jolla?

I don't know how long you can wait, or what your budget constraints are, but this pre-review for the forthcoming BB Passport, is very positive (granted it's done by a fanboy). The keyboard sounds...

Re: Alternatives to Jolla?

I left my Z10 for a Nexus 5. Can't say it was a trade up; but it didn't hurt to do so.

And I actually liked the Z10. It's a solid phone, the swipe UI is done quite well in most places, but it's an...

Re: Alternatives to Jolla?

I can recommend Z10 very much. I am using it since 2 months and am loving it. PIM is top notch. The Hub is awesome. You can see all the communication, incoming emails messages etc. in one place. I...

Re: Alternatives to Jolla?

If you dont care about openness of system (this mean using gnu/linux utilities and scripting as root) this is a good choice I dont know anyone who complained about bb10 here ...

Anyway for my...

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

How annoying it is that people think that America is a country. Now, let's go back to the Jolla UX please, otherwise we'll be here forever ;-)

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

yeap - N9 is like that. But bear in mind that in the Jolla the UX is different, as you flip different screens by going up/down, so it'd be impractical to have 100s of open applications and have to...

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Also if youi long press on the screen so you can close selected apps you get a chance to view more than 9 (not sure what the limit is though). Also bear in mind that if you open one of the minimised...

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Once again: the applications remain open, they just don't appear on that screen. There is no workaround that I know of, but then again you don't want to be scrolling down forever, right?

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

BTW the VHF/UHF and maybe lower band RX software defined radio is probably not a quick cut/paste option for the established GTA04 though it could be connected with only a few GPIOs later in a new...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

My imagination gives me a picture of a scene similar to the one from Matrix (I think it was the second movie), where Nokia's CEO looks at a ready Neo900 and says "I killed you, N900, I watched you...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

several times I expressed the idea here that we need to free maemo. I mean fremantle. to rewrite/replace non-free parts of it thus make it live without being dependent on the old body.
n900 case is...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

The foundation of this idea is very promising and has the potential of making it far in the current maker and indie culture.

There are a few points to make which I think are critical for a wider...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

I suggest that the Maemo community board and Openmoko leadership together write a nice press release.
This will allow us to approach places like Slashdot, BoingBoing, even geek comics like XKCD with...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

Ok, what is Fremantle compatible then? Looking at the specs, this will be around droid 2 (CPU 1 GHz OMAP 3620, Droid 2 Global runs an OMAP3640 clocked at 1.2 GHz, Memory 8 GB flash ROM, 512 MB...

Thumbs up Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

This idea appeals to me. I'm ex-Nokia, maemo/meego/... kernel team, and would be willing to spend some of my free time assisting with kernel and low-level-user-space issues. (If you need a kernel...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

Voted and I`m definitely interested (it will be pleasure to test "new" platform at its birth).

Is it going to be DIY as follows:
1. Buy new motherboard
2. Open up N900, take out Nokia mobo,...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

This effective phone community design has all of the features found in a...
