I use the bleeding edge driver all the time. Some people do say there's battery issues, but I use it as my default driver all the time, and I see no noticeable battery life decrease.

I was fed up with my slackwire version (harder to balance) so I took my n900 to the circus to get the new firmwire, but the engineers are a bunch of clowns and hadn't heard anything about it either ;)
