Re: Jolla battery life greatly affected by an NFC bug

Not questioning, just curious :D

edit to explain myself: I've worked with embedded systems and low power budgets myself, so I know what a difference this kind of thing can make - I'm definitely...

Exclamation Re: SailfishOS bugs and glitches

There's definitely something funny going on with timers, as the command-line sleep utility seems to sleep much longer than intended, especially if the device is saving power. Verifying with perl...

Re: Jolla battery life greatly affected by an NFC bug

Another report, battery now at 70%, IOW 30% gone after 7 hours (since 13:01 local time). This is a great improvement.

I think I will leave tohd.service disabled until there's an update that...

Re: Jolla battery life greatly affected by an NFC bug

Update: at 16:16, having idled until now, the battery is still at 79%. The phone was a bit slow to wake up, maybe it entered a deeper sleep mode?

Re: Jolla battery life greatly affected by an NFC bug

BTW, if the custom ambience algorithm could be made with a slightly better contrast, especially the sent text in the message app, the screen brightness could be kept low.

Oh, and it's 15:52, and...

Re: Jolla battery life greatly affected by an NFC bug

Some results.

The LED started flashing at 13:01 local time indicating a full battery, at which time I disconnected the charger. It is 15:40 as of this writing, and the display says 80%. Usage has...

Re: Jolla battery life greatly affected by an NFC bug

I disabled tohd as described in the comments (systemctl mask tohd.service; systemctl stop tohd.service) since I only have one Other Half anyway :)

I'm now charging the battery to full, let's see...

Lightbulb Re: Sailfish (Jolla), Bluetooth PAN or DUN, and OS X

In fact, forget all the above. After a bit of research, I found the simplest solution.

pkcon install connman-test (you only need to do this once)
cd /usr/lib/connman/test; ./enable-tethering...

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

I have used Jolla as my primary phone for a week now. I charge it overnight, take it with me in the morning, and it lasts enough to get back home. I have a car charger, but my wife's Android uses it...

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Maybe this could be addressed to a degree with a slightly differently shaped or lightly textured OH?

Re: New members say hello !

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and got my Jolla a week ago. I've already managed to post a "few" things :D before I noticed this thread.

Best regards from Joensuu, Finland.

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

I have. It's not easy. It requires zooming in reeeeaaaaaalllly close to get the cursor where you want it. Then the browser tends to very easily zip back out so you're left squinting at your own...

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Having watched several operating systems and environments grow up, I have learnt that when a system is first released, the number of bugs is proportional to the square of the number of features ;)

Re: SailfishOS bugs and glitches

Two more, sorry about spamming the thread...

I just got a call. The phone was on the table, and I had a BT headset. I selected Answer on the top menu, but heard nothing on the headset. I did hear...

Re: SailfishOS bugs and glitches

Also, I just noticed this. I don't know if it was the 1.0.1.12 update, the associated reboot, or my recent tinkering with pand, but my Jolla had just forgotten its Bluetooth name and all of its...

Re: SailfishOS bugs and glitches

Browser interface is inconsistent with the rest of the OS. IMO a swipe right should be "Back", most actions should be in a top pull menu, with perhaps one or two items repeated in a bottom menu.

Re: SailfishOS bugs and glitches

In browser, large images are consistently shown too wide and cannot be zoomed out to fit screen.

Google accounts keep logging out.

It's totally non-obvious how to select and copy text.

If an...

Sailfish (Jolla), Bluetooth PAN or DUN, and OS X

Call me a glutton for punishment, but I thought I'd try this out.

I looked around the Jolla operating system and figured out that it should be possible to share the network connection through...

Lightbulb The USB cable

Sorry if this has been already discussed.

I felt that the stock USB cable was thick and unwieldly, and that it put an undue strain on the connector on the phone side. Seeing as some friends of...
