Re: Bitcoin server running on an N900

A silly calculation.
Based on http://blockexplorer.com/q/nethash - I make the difficulty at the time of release about 600, rising to 1200 a month later.

Re: MeeGo-Harmattan HE

The n900 accelerometer supports double-tap detection in hardware.

This is not implemented properly in the driver.
Though - run some program using the...

Re: Methods for determining battery drainage / cause

It doesn't.
This is exactly backwards.

I'm trying to write a page explaining power use - this is not done yet.

In a couple of days I hope...

USB Host. (Are we there yet?)

USB host mode has been somewhat of a slog, which continues.

USB host mode lets you plug in random USB devices to your N900 using just a commonly available F-F adaptor cable plugged into the normal...

Re: Community input for new t.m.o. policy

I question the blanket 'no business advertising'.

While in some cases, this would be clearly inappropriate - for example -
'BUY MY AWESOME SCREEN PROTECTORS' - in others, it might be less so.

Want wpa_supplicant? cisco LEAP and others.

First - see the caveats on http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-devel - then add caveats about software downloaded from some random dudes website.

I compiled wpa_supplicant and friends.

It's at...

Re: [Council] "Chromium" removed from maemo.org repositories

What would be needed to be perfectly fine legally would be to take the chrome repository, and fork it.

This fork would need to have none of the source-code of courgette - that would need totally...

Re: OBD2 Car Software

The fundamental protocol of most of these devices is quite simple.

In principle, you could just...

Re: USB HOST MODE! (Coming soon)

http://depot.javispedro.com/nit/usb/displaylink.jpg may be interesting.

This is javispedro's early success in getting DisplayLink monitor to work - basically it's a 'monitor over USB' solution.

Re: USB HOST MODE! (Coming soon)

Basically not.

The 'interesting' parts of the USB are mostly confined to the USB module inside the chips.

That's what we're trying to work out at the moment, and it's generally better done...

Re: Screen scratch solutions?

I've _destroyed_ several screen protectors.
First two were with 'blocks' - that I got a bit addicted to - tiny bit of grit gets to the stylus - and ...

Then I went gardening, and managed to put...

Re: Screen scratch solutions?

For truly hairline scratches, the protector may completely conceal them.
It has a jelly-like substance on the back that it sticks to the screen with.
This will conceal small scratches.

Re: USB HOST MODE! (Coming soon)

OTG can never be got to work.
There are various reasons why the n90 can never support USB OTG - the wiring is basically wrong, though the components themselves support it.

USB host - what your PC...

Re: [Testing Squad] - June 2010 - We need testers!

Another issue that would make the QA list easier to use would be if there was some way to get a list that is not broken into many parts.

I have scrollbars, I'm quite capable of scrolling down a...

Re: TV Out question

I looked at the datasheet - it's not really clear - but implies there will not be significant truncation - the inputs to the colour generator stages are all as wide as the input data.

The major...

You will never - with normal analog TV signals - get to that.
There are simply not 800 columns displayed on any TV standard, by most sensible measures.

For example - NTSC - yes - it has around...

Re: N900 beach disaster - Wireless and GPRS data no longer working

Several points.
If a phone gets wet in _clean_ water - would you drink it? - then drying out completely may help.
However.
Saltwater (or indeed coke, or ...) is _much_ nastier - perhaps ten...

Re: N900 will not allow USB OTG!

One caveat.
the current exposed by the bq27200 needs multiplied by (20/3.57)mA to get a current.

It's a raw value from the chip.
the '20' is arguable - but is at least more or less reasonable....

USB HOST MODE! (Coming soon)

Through the efforts of many - this has been achieved - at least in basic form.
The n900 detected two USB devices - though did not have drivers for them.
