Re: [Announce] VICaR: Value International Call Router (Calling Card Helper)

I have a feeling that Vicar has a memory leak. I was curious why my N900 does so much swapping yesterday, I fired up htop and seen that vicar-telepathy process takes approx. 4% od memory which is...

Re: [Pre Announce] Shortcut Stash

Excellent widget! Exactly what I always wanted - not only launch apps but also bookmarks. Few notes:

1) Installing widget with dpkg caused hildon-home and hildon-desktop crash.
2) Bookmarks...

Re: [Announce] VICaR: Value International Call Router (Calling Card Helper)

I've updated my N900 to PR1.3 just today, I'll do my best to do some Vicar tests but now sure when exactly as I'm quite busy over next couple of days. Will let you know.

Re: [Announce] VICaR: Value International Call Router (Calling Card Helper)

Well, to be honest - I would personally probably stick with just one, max two profiles for myself. I was thinking of these options as a way to extend Vicar functionality even further and make it more...

Re: How do you use multitasking in N900?

I tend to keep dashboard clean, rarely open more than 3-4 apps at once. Main reason - performance, or more precisely - lack of thereof. With just 256MB of RAM and plenty of swap, it doesn't take too...

Re: [Announce] VICaR: Value International Call Router (Calling Card Helper)

Did a quick test with two different profiles and found an issue (well, not exactly an issue, but something to improve). Say I have two profiles:

Profile 1 for numbers starting with +48
Profile 2...

Re: [Announce] VICaR: Value International Call Router (Calling Card Helper)

Ha, perfect timing! I've started using a new calling card number yesterday and quietly wished for profile support in Vicar. Turns out - we've been reading our minds. ;)

Re: App Search Widget

It might be an impression, as with previous version it sometimes took quite a while to display a list with all results populated, while now list comes in quickly while population isn't finished yet....

Re: [Announce] VICaR: Value International Call Router (Calling Card Helper)

Unfortunately, I have trouble upgrading Vicar. Firstly I've tried with fapman, selected few packages to upgrade, including Vicar, yet it thrown some error before even downloading anything. I didn't...

Re: [Announce] TouchSearch for Fremantle

BrentDC,
I can understand where are you coming from with your approach to TS v3 - we developers all love our stuff to be nice, neat and clean, don't we? Nonetheless, removing ability to add custom...

Re: Optimize your Nokia N900

My strong suggestion would be instead of mass killall'ing many different apps/processes in a row, identify (http://wiki.maemo.org/Documentation/devtools/maemo5/sp-endurance) just those which actually...

Re: Optimize your Nokia N900

You're right, generally, however bear in mind that N900 is running nearly-full Linux stack on somewhat less powerful than regular PC hardware and only 256MB of RAM, which tends to fill up fairly...

Re: Optimize your Nokia N900

Screenshot attached, however it might not be the best example, as my N900 usage pattern has recently changed a bit and I don't use it *that* much for time being - especially for general web browsing,...

Re: [Announce] VICaR: Value International Call Router (Calling Card Helper) released to extras-devel

Suggestion of making routing priorities made by activemind is somewhat sensible, however I'm not sure how easy and usable that solution would be.

I've made few suggestions directly over the email...

Re: I/O related N900 unresponsiveness?

After nearly ~2 weeks using my N900 with swap on external memory card (first few days on class 2 card, then class 6 card) I must say I did feel substantial performance degradation, especially while...

Re: Calendar Home Widget replacement

If you don't have a Google account yet, sign-up for one and setup Mail for Exchange sync in N900 with Google Calendar. Setup is fairly straightforward, sync works pretty well and you'll be able to...

Re: Extras enabled out-of-the-box on MeeGo-Harmattan device?

I am probably looking at this from a bystander perspective, but what I see here is that Maemo is clearly transforming from cool and hack'ish mobile distro into more established and "serious" MeeGo...

Re: Anyone else lost their stylus already?

Hang on, when someone is posting a listing which shouts "GENUINE" and then you get clearly non-genuine item in hand, how would you name it? I call it a "lie" and that definitely deserves a negative...

Re: Anyone else lost their stylus already?

Just got these yesterday. Pretty well made, fits the slot perfectly, yet still fakes. Negative feedback posted to the seller (simply lying in listing title).
