Re: Adobe releases experimental Flash to HTML5 conversion tool

Disclaimer - I haven't used this yet myself either but I had a good look through the Wiki page earlier.

There is no ActionScript support - it works with timelined FLA files only - and not much...

Re: Unable to view size details in Application Manager

I don't think there's an option to enable this post-PR1.2, although you can still find out sizes by clicking on things individually.

Re: The possibility to make pictures invisible in the N900

I think that by default any folder called "Private" is hidden, so you could try creating one.

Re: Application Manager sorting problems post-PR1.2

I have found the solution to this problem - I'll write it up here when I get a spare moment :)

Re: Instant Coffee - Packaging Java Applications for Fremantle

You may be interested (although not surprised) to know that To-Do-O and icedtea6 seem to work fine under PR1.2 :)

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: Bugs

I've noticed this in Qt-based apps; in particular TweeGo and I assumed it was a Qt bug. It probably was (and could still be - I'm on PR1.1.1 'til tomorrow) but if it's extended to all other (GTK?)...

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2: What's new? What's different?

I believe (though I'm not using PR1.2 yet) that you should just start typing while looking at a list in the App. Manager to start searching, like in the Media Player.

Re: [Announce] - mmjre - Java for N900

Wonko's hildon SWT port does work out-of-the-box. It did for me, anyway, when trying out my existing SWT applications. Point me in the direction of anything you'd like testing.

I have a blog...

Re: Instant Coffee - Packaging Java Applications for Fremantle

In case anyone's interested, there's a screenshot of a Java/SWT app running on my blog (http://shinypixel.co.uk/2010/05/14/alternative-technologies-on-the-nokia-n900/) (plus some OpenLazarus, too).

Re: Does the n900 have a good wifi connectivity?

The reception on mine is better than on desktops/laptops in the vicinity, and I don't recall any major problems.

Re: maemo-pc-connectivity

It's mainly for use when connecting your PC to your device via USB for networking when there's no other network present. If you do so often, there's a number of 'profiles' supplied to help you...

Re: Instant Coffee - Packaging Java Applications for Fremantle

Well, basic programs certainly work. Just installed icedtea6, wrote a quick class in the Terminal, compiled and ran it. Excellent :)

Re: why change transitions.ini?

Transitions.ini controls a few of the ways that the user-interface works, such as how fast things zoom between the task switcher, the app menu and the desktop, how far they zoom, and whether the...

Re: Unable to open non-local files

Another handy tip if you can't get this far is to tap the power button, and then tap "End Current Task" in the menu that appears. Sorry I can't help with your photos, though.

Re: N900 unable to play .mp4 audio files?

I'm a fairly heavy gPodder user for podcasts, and like you I've got a bunch of podcasts that have moved from mp3 to m4a and don't work any more. The files that the built-in Media Player doesn't seem...

Re: am i only one getting a bit bored with n900

I'm sure you're not the only person getting bored with your N900 - there's a few in this thread :) I'm not, though. Here's my 2p:

All new gadgets have their honeymoon period, but personally I've...

Re: Development waiting for PR1.2, anyone else?

In answer to the original poster, yes. When I got my N900 I had a good root through all the particular available developer workflows (Pluthon, Scratchbox, MADDE, even Vala) and I've decided that...

Re: File Manager Items Listed Twice

It's a known bug, which occurs if you have over a certain number of files/folders in your My Documents root directory. It will be fixed in PR1.2, when it's released.

Re: Bluetooth problem( transfer progress not showing)

Oh, and to answer your second question, reflashing the OS (Maemo) doesn't affect the contents of the rest of the phone - it just rewrites a small section (partition). That's why after a reflash, all...

Re: Bluetooth problem( transfer progress not showing)

There were some bugs in earlier firmware around this. The progress bar showed up but was either totally empty or full. The actual file-sending still works, though.

AFAIK these were fixed in...

Re: Donno which is the latest update for the N900

The top two are two different versions of the same firmware, which is the latest (PR 1.1.1) - the bottom one is old.

The numbers after the -8 (i.e. .003, .203.1) etc. stand for different...

Re: Missing Keyboard Characters N900 > < ^ $ % , |, {, }, [, ]

Press the Blue Arrow button on the keyboard (halfway up the left-hand side on a UK model at least), then Ctrl, and an on-screen menu will pop up with the characters you're looking for.

Re: Phone flashed but still missing files

Someone may correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that any backups done on-device are also erased by reflashing the MMC, so you'll lose them too if you don't copy them off the device first.

Re: Where is this "mail widget" then?

It was stated at the time of the PR1.1 release that it was an Easter Egg and not fully implemented.
