Re: Maybe the unpleasant truth is that MeeGo really was too late and/or not good enough?

This is the first time that I have posted here in quite a while.

What I thought was unfortunate at the time (early last year), was my work took me away from working with Maemo/Meego, and bought me...

Re: No More Nokia N9. Elop Says Meego was not meant to be and described MeeGo as no more than a "learning project."

What if I only agree with SOME things Elop said but diagree with others? What if, regardless, I wouldn't want the old CEO back? This poll and thread is rubbish.

Re: Nokia - Microsoft partnership (merged threads)

The good thing is that this isn't exclusive, it means that Nokia can pump out WP7 phones to turn a healthy profit and at the same time continue working on MeeGo for the future in Tablets and Phones...

Re: Maybe the unpleasant truth is that MeeGo really was too late and/or not good enough?

MeeGo was going to be late, regardless. Folks are too unwilling to admit that.

So instead, spread anger about WP7 - which, is easier to do since it's not full-featured as of yet nor is it a...

Re: Nokia employees protest due to massive layoff

many people wont like this, but here's the deal.
Symbian is a fat and outdated platform that just cant evolve, updating symbian reminds me of how RIM tries to make BB OS look like a modern OS,...

Re: Nokia - Microsoft partnership (merged threads)

0. In the end it doesn't matter who first implemented the idea. It's not about credit, it's about sales. Right now the smart phone-buying public wants an "app store" and Apple gave them one....

Re: Nokia employees protest due to massive layoff

Mate, I can't speak from an insider's viewpoint but there's some validity to my point, no matter how distasteful. I drew a reference to Symbian as an example of a product that's been in development...

Re: Nokia employees protest due to massive layoff

Whilst Kajko's comments diplay a poor attitude and tone (perhaps english isn't the priamry language here?) there is a point.
Given that Nokia has the largest RD budget of any other phone maker, what...

Re: breaking news:nokia partners with microsoft

What I'm wondering:

Is MeeGo vaporware that might never come out in a final, retail format? I know the definition of vaporware is somewhat vague no matter how you look at it. But to be...

Re: Is there anything we can do??

Because a year later, it's produced really nothing tangible?

Can't keep pouring R&D into projects and have them give nothing. That's just not realistic.

These aren't garage projects any...

Re: Is there anything we can do??

You want old Nokia back? The one that put nothing behind Maemo (any iteration) and produced a phone with a wonky microUSB whereas prior phones and internet tablets with microUSB ports didn't pull...

Re: Nokia CEO Elop lays groundwork for new strategy to be announced next month, a move away from meego?

I played around with the HTC 7 Pro over the weekend.. and.. i must admit, i was pretty impressed by WP7.. it's functional.. snappy and looks the part. It wouldn't be the end of the world if Nokia did...

Re: Nokia CEO Elop lays groundwork for new strategy to be announced next month, a move away from meego?

WP7 won't die that easily - it already has a very big developer base.
MS's development tools are too comfortable to ditch.

Re: Nokia CEO Elop lays groundwork for new strategy to be announced next month, a move away from meego?

Hardware with bad software won't sell, a lesson Nokia and every failed tablet maker has learned. The hardware will come, the question is if Nokia can deliver the end-user experience that will...

Re: Seems Symbian is the only future plan for Nokia

Symbian is the past and it looks like that is where Nokia is living . . . Meego is more experimental than Maemo IMO . . . and Android seems to be the only open mobile OS that is stable/complete...
