Re: It's official: maemo.org to be orphaned

Please excuse qgil for not coming with concrete official Nokia statements. There is none at this point. I could simply stay silent and wait for an official sentence whenever there is one. Instead, I...

Re: THE TIZEN THREAD [Good-News]

The experience with HTML5 depends a lot on the engine. Webkit is currently the best. Firefox' Gecko OTOH is really disappointing in terms of performance and smoothness.

JavaScript is a weird and...

Re: How will maemo.org introduce itself in 6 months?

What about something along the lines:

Some reasoning for coming up with this slogan:

It sounds nice and friendly.
It does not claim...

Off topic:

Sadly, my experience has been that even if a project is based in the Linux Foundation, it has more to deal with pooling resources in a shared manner than anything remotely dealing with...

Project N955 - Turn your N9 into a 'N950'!

So there I was, thinking how to get my hands on the N950 some time ago... but then I thought: How will other people will get the N950? Everyone should be able to get the N950...!

All this thinking...

Re: How will maemo.org introduce itself in 6 months?

This is why in a following post I added: "Or maybe defining formally this scope is actually not needed and this community can evolve through ad hoc steps?"

Er... seriously I believe the...

Re: How will maemo.org introduce itself in 6 months?

If, and only if, a developer wants to target multiple devices. However, let's assume there was another Linux + Qt device available and the problems of Qt Components portability (i.e. arbitrarily...

Sorry, but I answer with a quote of mine:

I am not talking about not being willing to learn. It's just if there is a change there is always effort involved to follow/adapt to that change. ...

Re: How will maemo.org introduce itself in 6 months?

The packaging bit is a non-issue. IMO rpm packaging is a lot easier to do and learn than deb. Besides if/when we move to using the community obs for building stuff it makes it pretty trivial to build...

Re: How will maemo.org introduce itself in 6 months?

I think that some usable hardware is very important as well.

First of all, the motivation (from an "occasional software developers" view) to write a software that solves a particular issue is...

Thoughts on this, only to get it out of the way and go back to the core topics of this thread:

- Qt & HTML5 are not exclusive. Qt includes Qt WebKit, which is one of the main HTML5 app development...

Re: How will maemo.org introduce itself in 6 months?

IMHO, Maemo used to be an OS, but today for me it describes an idea of open mobile platforms that lives on in projects like MeeGo, Tizen (at least I hope so), Nemo, Plasma Active, Mer, or Meltemi...

Thanks. I haven't figured out how to contribute to git, but I am working on it.

I will submit the files upstream, once I figure git out.

I am also working on few other Indian languages. ...
