did you just copy the binaries?
I also did get the dependencies issues installing the debs (not trusted installatiion, on open mode kernel)
copying just the binary to replace stock binary worked...

Turns out applying the patch goes fine, but it doesn't compile, I had to backport another change to make it actually build.
