Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

Here you are http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU/QA

... but please, don't ask me to distribute working items, I am not a project manager here (not a CSSU team member either). Just a random...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

Thanks for the invitation, I will keep it in case your (CE adaptation team) help is needed. There is no such for now though I am sure I will need some when return back to DSP project.

In a...

Re: Announcement needed from Maemo.org about it's future.

How much does it pay to spread FUD these days?

Shouldn't you leave tmo already? The game is already won.

Re: WP*.org should be the new name for this community.

The community here is only indicative of the members here.

The mess that's going on around Nokia is due to bad management. Maemo should have been a much more finished products since its release...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

See... That's what I'm trying to avoid. I really don't need another imap folder with 20+ messages a week in it to sort through. I barely like having that for the Maemo lists, and I'm actively using...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

Well, point taken.

No. They can stay on Fremantle (as I do), noone is going to remove it from their devices.

What is wrong with the current install procedure btw? That It requires an SD?

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

After reading this thread, I think I've gotten enough information to get a very high level overview of how the MeeGo development has changed over time.

But, how I view it has nothing to do with...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

In theory, I agree. The problem is, until MeeGo is at least a functional, stable base (say, as stable as Maemo PR 1.1), people will not move to it. And without a user base, will it really be...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

Then flex your project leader muscles and try to be a little creative: What milestones should have been reached in the time that has been spent developing? Don't forget to make your list of...

Re: Porting Harmattan's swipe to MeeGo?

Sorry, I don't recall where did I write that message about a couple of years ago, but basically the idea is: Nokia is fine with the redistribution of Maemo / MeeGo Harmattan binaries from Nokia in...

@tekki - thanks for the detailed explanation. Now I can see the bright n900 future ahead leaded by the best of the best developers from all over the world united. With Meego CE as primary OS.

But...

Re: Should MeeGo developers continue to publish info on this forum for maemo users (wrt Nokia device support)?

You have to consider that:

- Maemo has many closed packages. This includes a lot of hardware drivers, hardware middleware, OS middleware (state management, power saving, etc.), virtually all user...

Re: The End is Coming: What do we do next?

You misunderstood my point (and many others).

Is the 'end of maemo' due to:

1. Lack of funding by/for this community?
2. Some rowdy crowd in this community?

The answer is no to both...

Re: The End is Coming: What do we do next?

There seem to be two separate major requirements:

1) Those of us still using N900 phones want somewhere to discuss them, get software for them, put software we develop for them, etc. This is a...

Re: Cordia : Maemo5 UI on top MeeGo Core

I have to disagree a bit.
While you are right that communication is a big part of any product launch, this clearly isn't a "big" project. This is a community-driven Tablet intended for developers...

Re: The End is Coming: What do we do next?

In any case the only move worth making is something that is hardware agnostic at this point. Since the hardware is aging, no sense in trying to develop things further that tie you down still to the...

Unhappy The End is Coming: What do we do next?

Here's my opinion about the future of Maemo and maemo.org. I am currently an (un-elected, volunteer) maemo community council member, and an avid member of this community for about 4 years.

It was stated earlier; however the whole "more" or "less" open; I'm all about community support and ongoing support.

Maemo, basically dying. MeeGo, basically silent on handsets.

Fix the fact...
