Re: NOKIA Rejected Android in Favor of M$ - Eric Schmidt

While I partially agree with what you've said, I wouldn't really write off Microsoft's success as their remarkable ability to market their products. That's Apple's biggest strength, not Microsoft's....

Re: NOKIA Rejected Android in Favor of M$ - Eric Schmidt

Of course Nokia's supreme strategists rejected Google.

They've spent untold billions of euros on their maps and services plan (see the Risku manifesto for background on some amazing screwups) but...

Re: Maybe the unpleasant truth is that MeeGo really was too late and/or not good enough?

Nokia was building on top of the Linux kernel, GNU libs, and QT. All of the heavy lifting was done for them. They only needed to release a solid basic OS. I think that this is exactly what it...

Re: And where is the people from Nokia who worked on Maemo and Meego?

Few problems with your logic.
The 1.0 incarnation is getting slagged by techno journalists because it is so heavily locked down and underacheiving, one journo called it something similiar to symbian...

Re: Maybe the unpleasant truth is that MeeGo really was too late and/or not good enough?

That's a hilarious website, but needs a lot of improvement. It does not provide a count of hits, which would be really useful.

If you "suck-search" for Symbian, you get hits. The first one is...

Re: FSF to rapidly develop open/free PowerVR driver - free maemo becomes more possible.

Look at the other items on the FSF's priority list and realise you're in for quite a long wait before something usable emerges, by which time the hardware you wanted to use it on will be obsolete.

FSF intend to rapidly develop an open/free PowerVR driver. This means all kinds of good stuff for maemo, it brings us much closer to a...

Re: Future Qt scenarios...

Why though?
WinPhones7 OS doesn't:
* No cut, copy, and paste,
* No full multitasking for 3rd party apps,
* No Adobe Flash.
* Windows Phone 7 supports upgradable storage via an SD Card; however...

Re: Maybe the unpleasant truth is that MeeGo really was too late and/or not good enough?

A quick correction, from a person who has used and enjoyed Apple products for years (since the Apple ][+): Steve Jobs is in no way a technological visionary. Nothing that Jobs has ever done in the...

Re: A little confuised on the N900/Maemo haters... please explain.

The N900 is my first Nokia. I have been using Linux for almost 20 years now, and I bought the phone because it offered direct access to the underlying Linux OS.

I am not disappointed, except for...

Re: battery better with PR 1.3

Nokia (or TI) finally fixed SmartReflex - now both /sys/power/sr_vdd1_autocomp and sr_vdd2_autocomp are available.

Re: Adobe Flash Player 10: When will the update arrive? Is it coming at all?

It isn't free. It's licensed... by Nokia. Nokia pays that license for you.

Just like the browser/OS people pay for H.264 encoding for you too.
