This means that your Linux found the N9 correctly and pushed the kernel to the device. However I see no usb partition exports, which is a bit strange.

One other thing you might want to try BTW.
Instead of the rescue kernel&initramfs, you can downlload the latest ubiboot kernel which contains the integrated maintanance mode.

What happens, is it shows all partitions that are mounted to your Linux box.

BTW, I just tried to install the 32bit package on my 64bit Linux Mint 17 (but note that recent Ubuntus have multiarch support) and I was at least able to get the flasher help page without coredumps :)

I haven't actually ever installed a 32bit package on a 64bit machine, but if you can install it, the binary itself should run OK.
