I did a dpkg -i squeezeplay_7.6.0.deb and it installed without problems.

Just an update to this. Now that rootsh has been deprecated, you need to change the line

Exec=rootsh /opt/squeezeplay/bin/squeezeplay.sh

to

Exec=sudo /opt/squeezeplay/bin/squeezeplay.sh
...
