Re: Is there anything we can do??

Re: Is there anything we can do??

Sorry, Sachin, but the only think Nokia believes in is its bottom line. If Open Source is good for Nokia's bottom line, then Nokia believes in Open Source. As soon as Nokia figured out that Open...

Re: Maemo 6 Vs. Symbian^3 - The Future Contest ..

Well, the good thing about Symbian OS is that there is an enormous amount of functionally complete middleware you can use in your apps. The stuff that is part of apps in other systems, is reusable in...

Re: Maemo 6 loosing source compatibility with plain Qt, and Symbian^4

It won't be that simple.

Re: Maemo 6 loosing source compatibility with plain Qt, and Symbian^4

Re: Maemo 6 loosing source compatibility with plain Qt, and Symbian^4

Of course, somebody has to do it, but it is an implementation issue. Windows has different requirements from MacOSX, and those differences are hidden inside the multi-platform library. That's the...

Re: Maemo 6 loosing source compatibility with plain Qt, and Symbian^4

Qt for Nokia is an asset as long as code written for Qt can be deployed on lots of platforms. That is after all why Nokia bought it in the first place. So, with Qt in place, Nokia has a very good...

Re: Maemo 6 loosing source compatibility with plain Qt, and Symbian^4

I don't believe it is a good idea to push Direct UI all the way to the application level. The whole point of Qt is it being a library that hides as much as possible of the host platform. So if you...

Maemo 6 loosing source compatibility with plain Qt, and Symbian^4

[Note: this is a copy of a message I posted at Forum Nokia, about compatibility between the Maemo6 UI and the and Symbian ^4 UI, this being my main concern. But because Maemo 6 is also breaking...
