Re: [Post PR 1.2] Full Charging of battery not showing green light

Actually, I occasionally have an issue where I plug the charger in (which activates the screen), turn the screen off with the slide-switch, yet the yellow flashing LED doesn't come on. Instead, the...

Re: what has "open source" and "linux" phone/tablet maemo os brought us?

It's amazing how much bullsh!!t can be splattered over the intertubes by people that clearly have no idea of the kind of calculus that goes into understanding what concepts like "better" can mean in...

Re: iPhone 4

Yes, it is bandwidth-hungry (for any decent quality vicall), but to eliminate calls for any connection other than WiFi seems like a heckuva harsh limitation to impose.

Exclusivity? Perhaps. I...

Re: iPhone 4

Very interesting developments from Apple.

The increase in screen rez is nice, but not so radically superior to the N900 that it makes a big deal. You still can't do pressure-sensitive work like...

Re: Porting Maemo Camera Example to QT

I use a quick'n'dirty method to create my pipelines...for now, anyway ;)

gst_init(NULL, NULL);

pipeline = gst_parse_launch("v4l2src device=/dev/video[0|1] ! xvimagesink", NULL);

Re: Multiple Cameras

How are you attempting this, noobmonkey?

Are you just creating/closing pipelines alternately, and overlaying the incoming frames as fast as you can? In C, of course ;)

That would seem to be the...

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!

Manul, BLC et al

I think this thread has run its course (Yes! Java on the N900 is possible!), so I'm going to leave it and continue the discussion here...

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.3) and its release date

How about a rapid battery discharge utility so that Peter@Maemo can remotely electrocute the whining feckers that start threads like this?

Re: [Announce] - mmjre - Java for N900

New version available from the first page.

Apologies for the hassle, but it's probably wisest to uninstall/reinstall.

There are a couple of final wrinkles to iron out with this beta before it...

Re: [Announce] - mmjre - Java for N900

Sounds like a good idea, Wonko.

Forgive me if I don't get into it right now, as I'm trying to iron out a few final wrinkles with mmjre - the JRE installs fine, and the jarexec/javalauncher...

Re: [Announce] - mmjre - Java for N900

LOL Sorry dude, never even heard of Vala before :) Its syntax was familiar enough that it was trivial to convert it. Your Vala code was very helpful.

Thanks for confirming this. I was...

Re: [Announce] - mmjre - Java for N900

I apologize antezz (and everyone else).

I was using a nonstandard location (/usr/local/bin) to install my symlinks. I should be using /usr/bin

I have made the minor change required and uploaded...

Re: [Announce] - mmjre - Java for N900

Thanks for correcting me :)

Other than a couple of dopey scripts, there's no coding involved...and it's just not right to claim any credit for Sun's work.

So no, I wouldn't dream of...

[Announce] - mmjre - Java for N900

Project mmjre (https://garage.maemo.org/projects/mmjre/)

Pretty vanilla right now. The 'official' Sun embedded JRE for ARM.

I simply wrapped up the jre archive in a .deb and added some simple...

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!

I now have a working .deb install available for the Sun embedded JRE for the N900.

It installs the JRE and sets up convenient symlinks in /usr/local/bin so that all you have to do is:

jarexec...

Re: [Announce] WakeOnLan (n900)

I've had this compiled and running on my N900 for months (wakelan-1.1). Well done for packaging it for easy use :)

Re: Quake 2 Installation Instructions

The physical constraints of the N900 are the challenge here. It simply cannot support the kind of parallel controls you commonly use on a PC - QuakeX/UT etc typically have up to 4 simultaneous inputs...

Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting that the camera doesn't work....it works just fine....I'm concerned about the abysmal quality of the image.

Re: New firmware released! Minor update PR1.0.1 needed for upcoming PR1.1

Shame the front camera wasn't cleaned up. There's still the 'dark band' problem, and the generally grainy image quality, to fix. It's a standard 640x480 VGA camera...it shouldn't suck this badly.
