Re: internet radio

There's another option that's like vTuner, called Reciva https://www.reciva.com/stations/location with 63 stations listed under India. And if you want to listen to other countries, there are hundreds...

Re: Anyone in Canada using Nokia on Bell/Telus HSPA+ Network?

According to previous discussions (search for N900 in Canada - Toronto), the Bellus network will not work for data on the N900. Bell/Telus are still using 850/1900 frequencies, and their networks are...

Re: N900 in Canada (Toronto)

Not sure I can agree with you, Qole. As much as everyone is hurling vitriol at the CRTC at the moment, their decision was the correct one given our current laws. It was Industry Canada who screwed up...

Re: N900 in Canada (Toronto)

Time to wake up this long-dormant thread (hey, it's been over 48 hours).

I was just pointed to a retailer in the Toronto area (Markham) that specializes in the latest tech gadgets, and they have a...

Re: N900 in Canada (Toronto)

You're right, Qole, EDGE is not an option on those networks. So the only choice for data remains Rogers/Fido.

I still don't understand Bell/Telus' strategy with the AWS spectrum they bought. Are...

Re: N900 in Canada (Toronto)

Yes, you are correct, EDGE is the best you will find. That said, you should be able to find WiFi in a lot of places, and generally for free. Happy travels!

EDIT: Boingo has WiFi hotspots in...

Re: N900 in Canada (Toronto)

Unless I'm mistaken, Rogers still only uses the 850/1900 bands for their 3G system. Some of their devices do support 2100 (such as the "ZTE MF 668 device" mentioned in JD2010's link), but that's only...

Re: N900 as bike computer?

There is actually software for the N900 that's designed for this - eCoach. According to the info on Maemo Select:

"Keep track of all...

Re: Raining in Amsterdam (Maemo Summit 2009)

I'll try singing for you, even though I didn't make it to the summit. Oh, and I can add crowd noises or whatever using Audioease Speakerphone 2. Might take me a few days, though, as I'm waiting on a...

Re: N900 in Canada (Toronto)

Just a small update - it's being reported today that Bell and Telus will be switching on their GSM/HSPA networks in November. The network speed is said to be 21Mb/s, which is nice to see. No info...

Re: Program for learning foreign languages?

If you want an online option, check out the national broadcasters of each of these countries. The content is usually quite good, and you can hook up with a community of learners for more support. Oh,...

For those hoping to use the N900 in Canada, I should probably repeat a few links that I gave here: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=329271&postcount=18

A few months ago there was a major...

Re: Angry Canadian

It's a bit of a dry read, but look at the Industry Canada website for details:

The final results of the AWS spectrum auction are listed...

Re: €599 vs $649

If we compare pre-tax prices, it's a bit closer. In Europe, it's €500, which is currently about $735 USD. Conversely, the US pre-tax price of $650 USD is about €445. And the gap would have been...

I think we're talking about two different things. The N900 has a quad-band GSM radio (850/900/1800/1900) and a WCDMA/HSPA radio...

1) Nokia is NOT losing global market share. Just...

Re: Nokia Ovi Store Launch Is A Complete Disaster

True enough. But at that point, and given the title, the damage was done.

In any case, I hope the store rolls along, and I REALLY hope they get around to adding Maemo (maemo? mAeMo?) stuff....

Re: Who finds themselves coming to these forums less after the change of image?

I use the forum less these days, but that's mostly due to the content - lots of stuff for programmers, some for "newbies" (I find that term really insulting, btw), but not a lot for non-programmers...

Besides, the line between "software" and "hardware" is blurry at best - they're intimately tied to one another, and neither is useful in and of itself. Hence, releasing software details without...

Re: New Maemo.org coming Wednesday 22 April

I'm not claiming that the council has any inside knowledge; I've been following NIT development to know that asking such questions is a waste of time.

Instead, I'm trying to connect the dots. If...
