Yes, TWRP multirom for the moto Z play at the moment is buggy and I wasn't able to use it as well.
The guy who ported it recently wrote on xda that he would have update and fix it soon.

I just installed a cheap N900 digitizer I've bought on ebay, and it's now obvious that the quality of these non OEM parts varies.
Compared to the original one, this digitizer feels less solid...
