I actually had to install windows on bootcamp, so it was even more of a pain in the ****

I am no developer, and I have read the warnings (http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-devel), but I am finding more and more that if I want to make the most of my n900 I really do need extras-devel enabled....

I don't know what reviews you were reading, but an n900 is totally the wrong phone a non-geek with no data plan.

I think the n900 is awesome... for me. But you got the wrong phone! Sell it on ebay...
