I always use my N900's IR with Pierogi to control my TV and cable box.

LED notification is priceless.

I can't believe I'm going to say it, but battery life on the N900 has been far far better...

With some basic linux knowledge and networking, you can replicate "iCloud". I have all my photos/videos/documents (really: everything) synced with my fileserver at home. I can then access any content...
