Re: Any future for the Nokia Internet Tablet? Doh! Yes!

N810: It's linux. In your pocket. 'nuff said.

Not everyone gets it. For them, the iPhone and b'berries are enough.

Re: and to think nokia started this!

*shudder* WIndows (and CE, at that ...). It's as if the lamb chops off Dolly smelled of ... pork?

Re: Wow, now my N8*0 is working just like a phone.

Not sure about anyone else -- but I can't get the default agent to work through a NAT; at all. One thing I notice is that if you're relying upon STUN auto-detection, you lose. In fact, even...

Re: The new talk.maemo.org theme

The old ITT theme delivered like ... a turtle on crutches, here. I actually slightly cringe when hitting the reload button for updates ...

I'm actually liking the new theme ('cept for the "Talk...

Re: btscanner binary or repo

yeah, that's pretty much what I saw.

I also tried using "infocmp" to uncompile the xterm terminfo entry, and changing it to a 52x12 parameter, then renaming it to "xterm-small", using tic(1) to...

Re: btscanner binary or repo

I just seem to be missing a termcap/terminfo database (for anything, really -- a "find /" turns up nothing). Am I missing something obvious here?

Everything is a "error opening terminal: " (xterm...

Re: a quick question about synchronizing the tablet

rsync (and thus grsync) aren't a "sync" in the way you might think of it from a Palm based system (that is; syncing a calendar or a contacts list) -- those tend to have a "merge" concept, since they...

Re: Putting alarms on hold

How about just a "sudo /etc/init.d/alarmd stop"? You can
avoid monkeying with permissions, etc -- and could maybe
even tie this to a button ... (so you could turn it off for weekends,
too ! :-))...

Re: A Note On Tethering

Anyone else see a Bruce Willis movie in this?

Bruce: Watch out! He's got a cell phone and a MID! It looks like he's going to tether!

Re: Check out this field review I found for the N810

Maybe I'm way off here -- I see Xournal (not XJournal, as referenced) in the Chinook extras - but can't find *ht* any place ...

Going off to find too many references for verifying my repos ......

Re: Check out this field review I found for the N810

Not to be the nay-sayer here, but didn't anyone else notice that XJournal is only listed under OS2006, and HTtrack/WebHTtrack don't seem to load from the maemo web site (or maybe it's just me, or...

Re: How does Tablet GPS compare to Dedicated GPS unit? Good for hiking? Roads?

I don't think this is a fair comment, at all, really. I've been more the "give me back my $100 extra I spent on this POS" and "I'm more carefully weighing my next purchase options" kind of guy. ...

Re: How does Tablet GPS compare to Dedicated GPS unit? Good for hiking? Roads?

Precisely your last paragraph :-). Sorry I rambled so much - but I think that stems from my two primary uses: (1) in-car use (both to plot a trip, but also as a dynamic map when I invariably get...

Re: How does Tablet GPS compare to Dedicated GPS unit? Good for hiking? Roads?

There are good GPS units with bluetooth connectivity available on e-bay. Get last year's most-popular model, and you'll probably find it cheap, and working fine.

I've done comparisons with my...

Re: New to N810 & Maemo

Unfortunately, there isn't a real standard way of encoding the album art into the songs. I'm not sure if T&R uses the same method as Apple does, but interpreting those strings is a bit fuzzy. The...

Re: Inflight USB power for your NIT?

So, maybe if I ran Canola (volume on high, of course) and attached the NIT's earphone jack to the input of the power unit, I could infinitely power my N810.

DOC BROWN MOVE OVER! I'm coming back,...

Re: Name resolution not working on n810

OpenDNS is possible, TOR is a bit ... mmm, not sure. TOR wouldn't really be applicable. Unless there is some overwhelming reason (for example; a near-paranoid sense of privacy), a provided DNS...

Re: n800 or n770?

With recent threads, wouldn't waiting for the N900/Maemo5 to come out be better? Then there's the option of the N810 (which'll be much cheaper then), or pony up for the next-gen ....

Re: Mojocafe.net Relaunch - now for more devices!

Re: Name resolution not working on n810

I think I had something like this some time ago. nslookup, by the way, doesn't use the system resolver configuration.

The NIT uses "dnsmasq", which I don't like much, but is reasonable given the...

Re: Are you happy with your GPS(N810)?

I think the A-GPS is just a scam. I've seen more benefit from just deleting the cache file than I have from running A-GPS.

I run it over and over and over - with WiFi and it's "preferred"...

Re: Are you happy with your GPS(N810)?

Oh, get real. If I buy a car, I don't expect it delivered to my house needing gas, oil, and tires. If you advertise GPS, you should (a) have one that works, (b) have an application or two (FREE)...
