It can be picky at times. Check through all the settings and make sure you've got separate apn for gprs and mms. Try "havoc" mode - it'll force the messages through the mms and won't alert you that...

Delete messages:
Tap-and-hold in the main view -> Click "Delete"
or Open the message -> Application menu -> Delete
in the x-terminal to delete all messages:

I had the same problem as you Larswad. Have you tried rebooting? That fixed it for me, oddly enough. (Though for me after the first time this happened FMMS disappeared from the list of installed...
