Yes a little bit steady, but it is some of the most simple soldering you can do, only need to scrape of some paint, solder metal USB to the new copper area and that's it, lots of space to work with,...

if it looks like mine (USB pictures) then it will break at some point, it is not a very strong connection, my fix increases strength by at least 3x.

I have been telling them this since last year and i doubt anyone even listened but they soon cry mamee when the damm thing breaks off.

This thread really sums up why it is important to do the solder down fix, if this had been done here, this would not have happen.

so again please consider if you want you N900 to last having this...

when you attempt to solder do some experimenting first, dont just go in there all guns blazing because if you make a mistake on tiny work like this it can have disasterous results.

The short leg has obviously broken and left at least the pad on the board so judging by that pic you should be able to attach a small link wire to it to re-solder to the pad.

That leg by the way...

Take a very close pic of the board only where the port should be,macro shot, make sure it is in focus and let me look ok.

Are the 5 legs intact ? are the 4 little earth legs ok?.

You need to clean up first and get all the legs tinned ready to work on.

If some pins are too badly damaged (broken,bend etc) then he might need to replace the usb.
But yes if the pins are still ok condition then he can just try to solder it back

Why does he have to do that? the one he has only needs to be soldered back in place :confused:.

It is not damaged at all and if he goes to the usb fix thread he will get all the info he needs to...

You can buy any faulty Nokia phone with microUSB & take out it's microUSB & solder it on your N900's circuit board.
