Re: Looking for an Android phone, suggestions welcome

Thanks a lot!

No, I don't think Sailfish is mature yet, as far as I see, I'm not sure if the app coverage isn't better on Maemo still.

I just want to be able to hop off the Android train...

Re: Pokémon GO not working on 2.0.2.45 :(

The anti-android zealots continue to astonish me.

Without android support Jolla would not exist, basically. Vastly fewer people would have bought the J1 and thus even if they weren't financially...

Re: Pokémon GO not working on 2.0.2.45 :(

Quite. It's like the vegan stereotype but with people who don't use Android applications. Instead of someone going to a steak restaurant to proclaim "hey, did you know that I'm a vegan?", it's...

Re: Pokémon GO not working on 2.0.2.45 :(

This place is too full of blowhards that talk a lot, deliver very little and want too damn much with rarely doing anything.

Simply put, a poll for something, even out of curiosity has brought...

Re: Multitasking on Android

Long and short of it. If I start up an app, I want to be the one in charge of exiting it or keeping it in background. Not android.

Re: Multitasking on Android

The point I was arguing was your claim that the Android method saves battery. I wasn't arguing on the usefulness of saving state.

The Android method has its advantages, I don't dispute that. ...

Re: First thoughts about the (pre) Sailfish OS 2.0

Confirming the Polarcell battery option to be just excellent. Tried it in my jeans pocket for about 1 month and so far no overheating

Here is some hope to cling on to:

Jolla's...

Re: First thoughts about the (pre) Sailfish OS 2.0

What about this:

Shorter swipe(something like max 30- 50%): When you are in application it closes it. When you are in homescreen or events it locks the device.

Longer swipe: It brings the menu...

Re: First thoughts about the (pre) Sailfish OS 2.0

I'll have to add in my observations as everybody else seems to have an opinion to share, too :D

First thing, it seems that not a lot has changed, only some small things. However it does of course...

Re: First thoughts about the (pre) Sailfish OS 2.0

For a gesture based os I find the settings menu "gestures" surprisingly empty.

Can I just choose if I will use the trusty swipe cover actions instead of the limited, push buttons?

If this is a...

Re: First thoughts about the (pre) Sailfish OS 2.0

Disagree. Sailfish 1.x with gestures was like giving a screwdriver and screws to somebody that only knows how to use a hammer, to continue your analogy.

Sailfish 2.x seems to be an admission that...

I have not understood why they have gone this way, and...

Re: First thoughts about the (pre) Sailfish OS 2.0

That might work on the small phone screen because you can easily reach the screen edges with your thumb.
But what about larger screens on a tablet? You have to move your whole hand just to switch...

Re: First thoughts about the (pre) Sailfish OS 2.0

i have to agree with you Hthe B,,the new button cover actions are a real PITA ,,,they should rethink how to get back the old swipe cover action..

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp Client for the N900 ONLY

I finished fixing all the Windows Phone/iPhone emojis.

It took me like 3 months...

So Yappari 1.1.50 should already hit the repositories by now. Also there's a bug found by CoDeRuS fixed.

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp Client for the N900 ONLY

I updated WhatsApp in the Windows Phone and now I can see the problem of emoji you're all getting.

Looks like WhatsApp is moving all old emojis of 3 bytes to a 4 bytes format.

I guess that I...

* Profile picture now works (thanks to coderus)
* Group name notifications...
