Re: Maybe the unpleasant truth is that MeeGo really was too late and/or not good enough?

Ok... let me ask you this. Why does it have to be one or the other? Good for developers shouldn't mean that users lose out with a weaker UI/UX and a strong (or simple) UI/UX shouldn't mean that the...

Re: N950 will succeed N900

Agreed on the larger battery.

I prefer the resistive screen. I still have an affinity for a stylus. I don't use it all the time but frequently enough that I'd miss it.

Re: Nokia employees protest due to massive layoff

Even if they're genuine, it's going to be pretty hard to convince most hackers worth hiring to join now....

Re: N9 scrapped according to Eldar and others.

Despite the fact that I'm cynical on Maemo and I'm pessimistic about MeeGo, I would disagree on your assertions. I believe they can easily manage to turn this around without resorting to using...

Re: N9 scrapped according to Eldar and others.

It's a shame you weren't here when it was far more constructive and truly deserved to be called an amazing community. It's become something of a slowly dying ember and infinitely more pessimistic...

Re: MeeGo reference devices - possible N9 prototypes?

Not to mention that the position of the LED on the corner of the device meant placing an N810 face down did little to subdue the light show. I once awoke confused as to why a lightning storm could...

Re: MeeGo reference devices - possible N9 prototypes?

You find the N900 LED impressive ? You obviously have not seen the N810 LED. That one was the mother of all LEDs - it was RGB(ish) but the kicker was that it was so strong there were reports of...

Re: The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Nokia and Microsoft

I'll never buy WP7 on anyone's hardware. If Meego or something similar is not available on suitable hardware when it comes time to retire the N900, I'd actually buy something running Android before...

Re: MeeGo is "the Biggest Joke In the Tech Industry Right Now"

Gizmodo readers actually give Nokia and MeeGo a fair shake. Statements from bank analysts don't get any confidence from me, seeing as how "great" their track record has been.

Re: What's so bad about Nokia + Android anyway?

Maemo didn't fail nor did it stumble and fall. It was a testing balloon and never intended to be more than that. That's why Nokia didn't put too many resources behind it, and that's why it didn't...

Re: For your next smartphone, will you choose N9 or switch to an Android phone / iPhone ?

In the end it depends on what you wanted the N900 for. I have a feeling for most people the N900 wasn't the right choice if they were looking for an Android or IOS experience. I for one have plans on...

Re: Elop said N9 is a 2011 event. It's 2011! Where is it?

All this talk about how Meego and the rumoured N9 will win back all market share and decimate the Android and iOs dominance and how it will outshine all other smartphones etc etc - well just as...

Re: Now Is The Time For Microsoft To Buy Nokia

Nope.

Nokia doesn't need Microsoft, Microsoft doesn't need Nokia. It's a bad match all the way around... it's two heterosexual men trying to dance. Which one will lead? The hard-headed...

Re: Elop said N9 is a 2011 event. It's 2011! Where is it?

My hypothesis is that the N9, as was rumored (A8-based) is now dead and along with it, MeeGo/Harmattan. No one would buy into that half-*** solution, since it wouldn't even be MeeGo compliant. Seeing...

Re: Nokia finishes Maemo5 support

This is not to excuse Nokia in any way, but in the past few years the cell phone slash mobile computer business has changed rapidly, to put it mildly. Some companies were in a great position (lacking...
