Use "dd" on a nix/nux machine to create a backup. Do not rely on those pesky backup-programs, simply use "dd".

I would check the permissions on the database and the folder that contains it. Probably have a look with as well to see if there are integrity problems with the database itself.

It ended all well. When I first spoke to my old provider, they told me they were unable to give me that number and suggested alternative methods like other phones...

I used to run E17 on EasyDebian on the N900. Made me wish we had Enlightenment instead Hildon-desktop for Maemo. It would've been smoother than anything else.
