Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

As a longtime Opera user on the desktop (since at least 1997), I am very happy with Opera Mobile 11 for Maemo.

The previous version did not quite work for, but I think this one will become my...

Re: N900 getting Meego in end of october?

An OS is never finished. Let's repeat this once more. A nice, clean, open OS is just one facet of the smartphone experience most users expect. In other words, are you sure you want to upgrade (switch...

Re: N900 getting Meego in end of october?

Re: Nokia exec Niklas Savander welcomes your questions on Twitter

The crucial difference between Android and Maemo is in treatment of real-time applications. Android is a single-engine based system and it allows an easy manipulation of priorities and system...

Re: [Council] Nokia response to MyNokia subscription in PR1.2

Excellent idea. I completely agree: that would get high opt-in rates and be perceived by most people as a very fair exchange for providing the information.

Personally, I still wouldn't...

hotswap of battery possible!

DANGER! Uncertified hardware hack! Though it worked for me, there's NO GUARANTEE it will not fry your N900 or even You. I found no indications this procedure could be harmful or dangerous, but I...

Re: Is the N900 ever going to be a polished product?

Yep, App manager is laughably slow compaired to the iPhone's, got a little jealous of the iPhone. (Only for a second though)

I think it is the Maps app fullscreen icon that doesn't play ball, as...

Re: [ POLL ] Developer Horse-Race: Who'll reach feature-parity with Maemo5 first: Meego or NitDroid?

Those figures are not accurate IMO. We are all humans. And one of the greatest strengths (and weakness) at the same time is that we are never happy.

Maemo could be ten times better than Meego or...

Re: Maemo Missteps, your thoughts?

My opinion is the main problem is in the fact, that Maemo is not Nokia core business product. IIRC 98% of revenue is generated by Symbian devices.
The Maemo branch is giving little money and a lot...

I don't know about buttons, but you can control the multimedia system (including the player). There is an API for it: http://maemo.org/api_refs/5.0/5.0-final/mafw/.
