I have generated code from the ebay WSDL file using WSO2 WSF (Axis2C under the hood). The generated code is 150MB of source code and compiles down to 45mb lib.

No the guest VM has NO bearing on your ability to connect USB devices to it! Only when the device is connected to the VM does the drivers in the VM come into play.
I'd suggest trying maybe vmware...
