Here's what happens when Microsoft buys a large corporation:
http://www.businessinsider.com/micro...-so-far-2011-5

TLDR: MS has a history of purchasing companies for large sums of money only to destroy all that value with mismanagement and incoherent strategy.

So if MS releases its own branded tablet on Monday (http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/15/w...let-on-monday/), how does Nokia fit into those plans? Nokia has admitted before that they will be coming out with their own tablet.

You forgot to add the most important factor in that everything they have bought out and consequently destroyed were in fact direct/indirect competition to them ;).

By whom I wonder? So far, each and every Linux mobile handset has been handled with reckless abandon and rather poorly.

It sounds like they may even want to get rid of or kill Qt entirely soon-ish...
Maybe they'll be dumb enough to sell to Samsung who may actually DO something with it?
But more likely they'll hold onto their proprietary Trolltech/Qt-related goodies & shelve em.
Plus w00t's already made a very good point that it still has a future with RIM & others.
Sure Nokia dropping out will have a big impact initially, but no doubt the slack will be quickly taken-up

I hope a community fork of Qt happens soon.
