strange that Shazam can be found @/usr/share/themes/blanco/meegotouch/icons, too...

Okay, here are some instructions :
1. Save your icon in the easiset folders you can remember e.g. /home/user/MyDocs/abc.png.
2. Locate the app you want to change e.g. /usr/share/applications/xyz.desktop.
Some applications reside in /usr/share/applications/.
3. Open terminal, devel-su, password
4. Edit the app via nano, nano /usr/share/applications/xyz.desktop
5. You'll find "icon=zzz"
6. Change to "icon=/home/user/MyDocs/abc.png
7. Save it, done

efion did what I wanted to do.

Actually this will cause a .png in your mass storage, would be nice if you overwrite the original icon.

First of all, you need to know the location, I assume in

/usr/share/icons/hicolor/80x80/apps

Name: cutewiki80.png (I don't have this software installed, you need to check on the name, I'll use this name for the rest of the steps.)

Rename the new icon to cutewiki80.png, put in mass storage.

Open terminal, devel-su, password

cp /home/user/MyDocs/cutewiki80.png /usr/share/icons/hicolor/80x80/apps

Restart your device, then you will have the new icon. And you can delete the one in your mass storage in case it messes up your gallery.

Hi,

why you dont make an *icon-pack.deb and make it used with theme sittings so the user can switch easly without
deleting or renaming :)
if you have no idea about that you can contact @Flotron here in TMO as he made an icons pack for harmattan and i guess he will help you ;)

btw im making icons packs for Maemo 5 and yours is nice can you please name the programs are you using to make the icons :) ?

Thank you for the tips. I have thought about building a .deb, maybe I'll try with some free, non-system and non-commercial icons. Opera, firefox and panorama?

The reason I don't build a .deb because some user may not want to change the icon, i.e for cute tube. And some apps are commericial, not everyone has it. So I guess just let user replace the icon he likes himself is better? I have already changed the name to match the orginl name.

Usually I use Adobe Illustrator. :)

I looked at this icon, it was saved in 90x90. If you have PS, you can cut the blank edge of it, each side for 5 pixel, then will have a full size 80x80 and it wouldn't become small again.

I don't have image tool in my current laptop, you can try with any image editor, should be quite simple.:)
