Re: Nokia Windows Phone?!
That could explain some Nokia/Microsoft working agreements...
|
Re: Nokia Windows Phone?!
I thought Nokias were made by foxconn, was i wrong?
|
Re: Nokia Windows Phone?!
Nokias are made by Nokia.
Apples are made by Foxconn. |
Re: Nokia Windows Phone?!
Foxconn did make some CDMA phones for Nokia.
(thread moved to General) |
Re: Nokia Windows Phone?!
But all that foxconn "city" is crazy thing, poor people. OK enough offtopic, sorry.

Re: Nokia Windows Phone?!
These kind of perverted ideas are not for public consumption!
....windows on nokias.... what hogwash! |
Re: Nokia Windows Phone?!
There where some news about WM+Nokia generated by USA media some time ago(yes i know this is from Times Online).
Honestly there's under 1% change of this happening. Nokia's whole high end and mid end is paved for Qt and so for Harmattan/MeeGo and Symbian^4. WM would make no sense at all. Nokia makes it's own phones. Foxconn have made Nokia branded CDMA phones and example from 2,100 Nokia's Finland factory workers 100 are working for Foxconn and branding some of the phones for carriers. Eldar Murtazin actually said in his writing that there's no plans of WM7 phones for Nokia and i believe him there. |
Re: Nokia Windows Phone?!
Maybe Nokia is covering all angles, Symbian, Meego and Windows and see which one works. Though I would hope Nokia focus on Meego without distractions from Microsoft and that the journalist has got it wrong.
|
Re: Nokia Windows Phone?!
I'm not saying this is likely to happen, but if they want to offer Ovi on other platforms, a US-targeted WM7-phone would be a good place to start.

Re: Nokia Windows Phone?!
i see nokia as primarily a hardware company
if it sells more handsets that they manufacture, don't see why they wouldnt consider doing it. they sell a netbook with 3g with windows 7 on it |
Re: Nokia Windows Phone?!
I'd be less suprised with HTC- surely last year they were moving up the ladder in terms of handset manufacturing.
And didn't engadget leak an SDK or something with a HTC phone named as a WP7 device recently? |
Nokia will develop windows phones???
There is also an interesting table about nokias support:

Re: Nokia will develop windows phones???
Not sure if i believe that... MeeGo not mention... seems a bit too ... random for nokia, allthough probably not unwelcomed from a business perspective... choice is good.

Re: Nokia will develop windows phones???
Off topic, will we get WRT apps on Maemo 5?

Basically Nokia is not going to be making Windows phones, not at all. They are set on their decision with MeeGo and Symbian! Their development platform Qt 4.6 which has been added into PR1.2 allows for programs to be compiled and used on MULTIPLE platforms. So apps written in Qt 4.6 can easily be compiled to run on Symbian/Maemo/Meego/Windows ect. Hope this clears it up for ya :) |
Re: Nokia will develop windows phones???
They already told that they are NOT going to make phones with Windows Phone OS in it.

The thread "Nokia will develop windows phones???" with ten posts has been merged into this thread.

Re: Nokia to make a Windows phone?!
Absolutely ludicrous. Not buying WinMo on Nokia device for a second.
Although if they'd want to replace Symbian with WinMo I would aplaud the decision. |
Re: Nokia to make a Windows phone?!
This is overreading between the lines. These are the "Apps and Services" Nokia work with.
Windows: Nokia has the Nokia Booklet 3G. And they have software support for Nokia software, on Windows. Maemo: The next operating system to follow Maemo 5, is being built on a MeeGo milestone version. You can even say it's in part being built on Moblin. And Maemo 5. It is said that this OS, which is a MeeGo OS, is going to be called Maemo 6. Or maybe it was a inversed negative statement, that they said they have NOT said that it's NOT called Maemo 6. That's just branding. Maemo 6 is [a] MeeGo OS. Not saying Nokia isn't building a WinMo phone. But there's really nothing in that presentation that even remotely suggests that it's so. The "Windows" box should be there, either way. |
Re: Nokia to make a Windows phone?!
I hope that we'll see the whole extent of how brilliant Qt as a dev. platform can be.
Interoperable apps and framework for symbian, Meego and Windows. I.e. lightweight sms/comms apps for Booklets. The services can actually be integrated on all device platforms. Everything available from the Ovi store. IMHO, WiMo is not going to be reality... I see that Volt's keyboard was better lubricated... :) |
Re: Nokia to make a Windows phone?!
that slide is very Old b/c it still talks about Maemo and we know Nokia talk MeeGo now after renaming everything MeeGo.
i'm willing to bet that slide was from nokia world 09 and was about N900 and booklet 3G which was newly announced |

You must oil your micro-scissors regularly, to keep up with mey!
