The Über Tiny N9 PR1.3 Discussion Thread!

Hi,

So... Because. Soon. Different methods. ;)

Within a fortnight.

Re: Haven't received pr1.2 update... yet!!

I found this. So now we have a countdown. 64 days to go. :D

Too long nokia speed up your dev and test process.

Such timers can be every day crap! It's all fake.
Here's an example: http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/...&sec=00&p0=101

Dave999 2012-02-19 11:33

Re: Haven't received pr1.2 update... yet!!

It might be fake, but it would be nice of Nokia to have a countdown like that to week or month. Doesn't have to be the exact date because it depends on QA. And as a bonus present one new feature for every week.

They have to think new to get back at the top.

pycage 2012-02-19 11:45

Re: Haven't received pr1.2 update... yet!!

I'd say 64 days is a bit too many. I suppose it's more like six days or so. February isn't too long anymore.

Re: Haven't received pr1.2 update... yet!!

The whole PR1.2 is a big WONTFIX!

why do you even need pr1.2. It's not like nokia suddenly cares about its customers. Its to much for nokia to fix to be on an even level with android. I say: leave my n9 alone with your shitty pr and release the sourcecode for maemo and meego instead.

browser and keyboard need so much work to be able to navigate fast and use as a substitute for a desktop. Why not swipe within browser?why not arrows to navigate? Why not...?

This thread is all about PR1.2 and why we don't have it in our supern9s. Read quite a few forums and several talks about 3000 changes in PR1.2 it can be pretty nice... If they have done something right. An issue I have is that almost no N950 users are excited over the update. That is bad... Mkey.

WontFix is one of the answers, a maintainer can give if you report a bug. As you can see here (http://harmattan-bugs.nokia.com/) Nokia quite often is not interested and will not fix those bugs (and there fore sets them to WontFix).

Hopefully we don't need to go that far this time. But you never know with nokia ;)

I just want an excellent update and PR1.2 ASAP.

For me, PR1.2 was an anti-climax. Based on my use case (which I admit is very limited), it broke more things than it fixed.

Re: Haven't received pr1.2 update... yet!!

After hearing that PR1.2 will not bring video calls to Skype or bring Google Plus integration - I use Google Hangouts as well.

There are many other issues I have with PR1.1.1 (using my Dubai purchased N9 now) and honestly I doubt that they will get fixed.

Little bit early to be starting this thread....
We've received a strong hint ages ago from melsop (twitter/meego head) that it'll begin rolling-out 29/02.

What are you talking about?
we need PR1.2 as fast as possible.

Why not ignore the thread and focus on how we can get our hands on pr 1.2 as fast as possible. It should have been out by now if we had started this thread earlier.

Webkit being open source doesn't really help. Webkit isn't the problem. The problem is the lack of basic features in grob, and grob is closed.

Nokia should either:

A. Open source all software components in Harmattan.

B. Treat their paying customers with more respect and fix the bugs and bring the feature-level up to something more appropriate for a smartphone in 2012. No more WONTFIX's.

if (!(A || B)) {
Why choose N9?
}

if (you want a closed device that lacks basic features, yet can be jailbroken) {
Why not just buy an iPhone? At least it haz moar appz.
}

Mike on the bike,
I have tried with the keyboard and when it comes to the browser, it's not possible to change the GUI as I want.

Are you always aggressive?

Re: Haven't received pr1.2 update... yet!!

I would rather Nokia take time to polish up PR1.2 release. To me their QA could still improve, in the beta release there are minor bugs here and there that I am surprised not found beforehand internally...

Dave999 2012-02-20 10:53

Re: Haven't received pr1.2 update... yet!!

So no N950 users are happy about the PR1.2?? :confused:
What hope is there for us regular N9 usersers. It's not like Nokia adding lots of new features to the PR1.2 after the N950 launch. But lets hope they adding some features and not just bugfixes and clean up work.

We need a leak!

N9 PR1.2 will NOT be the same as the N950's PR1.2.

'Nuff said.

Re: Haven't received pr1.2 update... yet!!

I am happy with the N950s pre release as well as with the one on My N9 (which I got with PR1.2 beta to test my apps in the store).
Sure it would be great to have many more features, but I haven't found any annoying bugs in my daily usage.

What I most miss is an open API and access to certain system functions. But Nokia stated very clearly, that this never will happen :(

Hey, we have a guy with pr 1.2 for N9:D
Any feature differences between the N950 and the N9?

Why not(nokia) make it available for everyone to test applications?

Dave999 2012-02-20 15:20

Re: Haven't received pr1.2 update... yet!!

It's probably the same or almost the same beta.

Is the "drive" application rotation working in 4 different sides ?

I'm not sure but I doubt it.

Why would you need that? Are you driving in 360 degrees often?

Re: Haven't received pr1.2 update... yet!!

no but the usb connection is hard to keep connected when phone is in landscape mode , better idea was to put usb on the bottom not on the top :(

nokia is the biggest shitphone vendor after apple. Used my n9 for a run. Nokias shitphones with the shitty headphones and the worst of all THE UBER useless 3,5 jack for nokia shitphoneheadset only. Have lots of great BT headsets and with wire and none of them works with nokias latest shitphones. Luckely for me, I throw it out of the window while I was driving home.
